LIFE AT IIM JAMMU

I chose this course to enhance my knowledge and skills in the business field and get ready for the corporate world. IIM Jammu has a decent student to faculty ratio. All the professors in IIM Jammu are Doctorate in their respective fields with depth of knowledge and creative teaching style. The exams and classes are conducted mostly as per schedule and Passing the exams are not that tough if you study taking help of your peers and teachers.

The internship process includes companies from multiple sectors offering diversified roles. for example - ICICI Bank, College Dunia, Bajaj Capital, Paypal, Adani Group etc. Various startups like Perfora, and converse.ai were also invited and hired a substantial number of students.

By the fourth semester, students become eligible for the final placements. The average package stands at around 16.5 lakhs whereas the highest package is at around 64 lakhs CTC for the recent year. The best thing about IIM Jammu is it has a 100% placement record.

The fees of IIM Jammu are a bit on the higher side, MBA 1st term fee for the 2023 Batch is around rs 854500 which has substantially increased from the last year. There are various scholarship opportunities provided by the scholarship partners. The college administration consistently informs about these opportunities. The placement opportunities are quite attractive at IIM Jammu with an average package of around rs 16.5 lakhs.

The campus life of IIM Jammu is quite vibrant. Consistently various activities and events are being conducted to engage the students. for example, the annual fest of IIM Jammu is empyrean which is conducted in the first week of March every year. The college has a large repository of books and journals which is diversified. The classrooms are fully air-conditioned, The sports events are conducted by the sports committee. IIM Jammu is a student-driven college which involves student participation in the functioning of the institute in the form of committees such as mess committees, infrastructure committees etc.

IIM jammu currently operates in a transit campus mainly in jallo chak and canal road campus. The facilities at Jallo chak are quite substandard and congested however this year the students are most likely to shift to the main campus of jagti where these problems will be solved. The mess is affordable and decent however lot of improvement is required.

The admissions for this college is done through the CAT examination which is conducted mostly in November every year. On the basis of the cat percentile, students are invited for the further process which includes mainly group discussion and personal interview. IIM carry reserved seat as per the reservation policy of India such as OBC (27%), SC (15%), ST (7.5%), EWS (10%), and PWD (5%). The interviews for all the IIMs are done from the CAP process.

The first step to get admission into an IIm is to clear the cat exam cutoff. The cat exam is a general aptitute test consisting of three sections these are Varc, Data interpretation & logical reasoning and Quants. On clearing the cat exam, further process includes Group discussion, The topics in Gd are mainly relation to the current affairs for example "digitisation of the Indian economy". The interview includes general question related to your profile and some testing questions about the current affairs.
