Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose Law because I wanted to do something different that can align with my personality. The faculty: student ratio is good enough considering the fact that in one class, there are 60 students only. The faculty here is cooperative and as many people fear, there is no such bias. They are always willing to help students provided the students are diligent. The exams were conducted on time always and it is not difficult to pass the exams as long as a student is attentive during classes.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

I never took help from the Placement & Internship Committee of the Department. However, I can provide a list of places where I've interned. Office of Adv. Renu Gupta Curare Legal Chamber of Gp. Capt. KS Bhati (Sr. CGSC) Chamber of Adv. Rajesh Gogna (CGSC) Chetanalaya Indian Law Watch

Placement Experience

3

Students in their final year are eligible to apply for campus placements. However, in Law faculty, there has been a trend that many students don't opt for campus placements as by the end of 5th year, law students usually end up interning at so many places that they get better job offers by themselves. However, those who rely on the campus placements do get decent offers like 3 LPA which is good enough as per industry standards. After my degree, I plan to go out as an Independent legal practitioner.

Fees and Financial Aid

For Regular students, it is 10,000 INR per year. For Self-Finance students, it is 40,000 INR per year. The difference is due to the rank in the entrance exam. The top rankers get admission in the Regular Batch while others get admission in the self-finance batch but the quality of teaching is the same for both. For financial assistance, JMI Teachers Association (JTA) provides scholarships to needy students.

Campus Life

5

Every department has its own fest, so there's a lot to enjoy during the fest season. The Law Department conducts Ethnic Day and Tabeer (Fest) alternatively. However, due to COVID-19, the fests were kept on pause. Every department has its own library and if any book is not in the department library, one can always go to Central Library by entering Gate No. 7. The classrooms are not too crowded and are big enough to fit the usual strength of 60 students. For those who like to stay fit or want to practise any sport, there is a Sports Complex as well. The Law Department has a Moot Court Committee, Research Committee, Debate Committee, and Placement & Internship Committee.

Admission

The admission process starts in the month of April when admissions forms are released for students across India to apply. The form can be filled by creating an account on the Admission portal of the JMI website. The application fee remains nominal and is usually between 500-700 INR. Thereafter, an entrance exam is conducted in May or June and by mid-august, the results are usually out. After that several cutoff lists are released. The admission process is quite smooth and one needs to be a little proactive in checking the website regularly.

Other Applied Colleges

Jamia Millia Islamia University-[JMI] | Master of Laws [L.L.M.]

I did opt for JMI. The environment is really competitive there while giving one enough liberty to do his or her side hustle as well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The law department's faculty members are highly qualified, and their teaching methods are commendable. They are extremely hardworking, and they go out of their way to give us a lot of exposure by taking us to the supreme court, high court, Dwarka district court, parliament, and other places. They frequently have several sessions with honorable justices from various courts. Our teachers put in a lot of effort and try their hardest to keep our standards to NLUs when it comes to organizing MUNS to national moot court competition.
