Course Curriculum Overview

4

MBBS is a tough course. One has to study very hard to pass the exams. From childhood, I wanted to be a doctor so that I can save a lot of lives. so I chose this course. The faculty are abundant in number. The class strength is 250. In the first year, we have 3 subjects and each department has around 15 teachers. So total there are about 45 teachers taking care of 250 students. All the faculties are highly qualified. At least all of them have an M.D. degree. in their respective subject. Teaching methods include lectures through power points and in practical classes the teacher will pay special attention to each and every student. There are many term exams. Two major term exams occur in one year and 1 final proff. exam occurs at the end of the year and passing is tough actually.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Since this is a government medical college, an internship is not offered by private companies. Here 1 year of compulsory internship is provided by the college itself. The stipend of the internship is around RS 29000. During the internship, students learn many skills required for the treatment of patients and learn to be good doctors

Fees and Financial Aid

As it is a government college, fees are very minimal with no possibility of fees hiking. Initially, admission fees are around 6500 rupees which also includes the 6-month tuition fees of the college. The total fees for 1 year are around RS 9000 The scholarship includes the Swami Vivekananda Merit cum scholarship. After completing 4.5 years in the course, students get a 1-year compulsory internship in the college where students get a stipend of RS 29000 per month.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is awesome. The annual fest is ecastasy, which is the biggest college fest in Kolkata. Library facilities are amazing. It opens from 9 AM to 7 PM on all working days. The book availability is up to mark. Classrooms are equipped with Fully ACs. The smart board are present in each classroom for digital learning. Majors sports present are: 1. Football 2. Cricket 3. badminton 4. Tug of war The major social groups are 1. NRS students' union 2. sports club

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel is very cheap. It cost only RS 144/year. In each room, 4 students stay. The hostel is not clean enough and for juniors, you have to share a room with seniors. A wide range of meals is available. From North Indian to South Indian to proper Bengali, every type of meal is available but hygiene of mess and canteen is a matter of concern.

Admission

This is eligible only for students who have passed 10+2 with biology, physics and chemistry subjects. The entrance exam is NEET. Application form is available in neet.nta.nic.in , application fees is around RS 1500 for general candidates and the exam usually happens in May month. Reservation is available for students of sc/st/obcs accouring to government reservation act. The admission process is usually quiet smooth and easy.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is completely based on NMC new guidelines. Along with the theory classes where we know the structure and their working in dissection we actually see them on cadaver . Lectures should be more interesting as it's get boring to literally listen the concepts for first time like a story and at the end we forget everything

Course Curriculum Overview:

Medical field is a really good field in my opinion to serve humankind and learn about science of nature and life!the curriculum is a little overpaced and there are 19 subjects which are taught in a timespan of 4.5 years which is a bit hectic! There are 4 professional exams and 9 semesters which have pretty good difficulty and assess our skills and education. We have regular examinations in around 4-5 months each. Only thing id like to change in the curriculum is better assessment of many topics which are taught pretty well but aren't examined much leading us to waste our time in focussing on them.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Well, mbbs is very hard and long term process. You will be bored in 1st year because you cant get real clinical cases. But in Final year, 3rd Prof Part 2, you will get huge pressure. Because there are total 11 subjects, you should study in final year. It is a great burden for all. I'm not satisfied with Nmc curriculum. They are not thinking about students. They are implement their rules in chilled ac room. But they don't know the real scenarios.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite planned and great and has a lot of advantages in having a clinical and learning diagnostic approach to various diseases. One area where the curriculum can improve is by having more practical classes rather than theoretical classes. The exams are quite difficult but are quite planned to make you understand the clinician and the passing percentage is 50 percent.
