Remarks
One can apply to the MBA program of IIM Rohtak through CAT (Common Admission Test), which is conducted every year. All other IIMs also provide Admission through CAT only. After CAT, I had given Writing ability test, and then an interview. In the year in which I had gone through the process, 10 IIMs conducted a common admission process, and IIM Rohtak was one among them. Now, IIMR conducts an independent process. One has to complete/the final year of under-graduation to get Admission to any MBA college. The CAT exam is conducted in Nov, and the application starts 2 months before that.
Course Curriculum Overview
MBA gives a lot of future opportunities, one can be in good managerial positions in big companies if done from a good college. IIM Rohtak has good faculty and is known for Marketing roles. It maintains a good gender ratio of ~1:1. It follows trimester pattern and marking is relative, exams are focused on implementation rather than theoretical. Faculty if good, though can be improved in Finance.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities are good, but mostly marketing oriented. Less finance and consulting. One needs to start preparing from the early days to get through. Certifications and prior experience do play a role.
Placement Experience
Summer internship opportunities start to come within 4 months of starting the program. Final placement opportunities start to come from the start of 2nd year. The highest package at our time was around ~25-30 Lakhs pa. It should be higher these days. Almost all the students get placement. 5% can face difficulties.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees were around ~16 Lakhs for two years for the 2019-21 batch. The scholarship is given to excellent academics and overall performers. Scholarship opportunities are also present for reserved categories of candidates
Campus Life
Infusion is the annual fest of IIM Rohtak, it is held on campus each year in the month of January. IIM Rohtak has recently a modern-day library and proves to be a good learning hub Classrooms are good, with a lot of space, charging points, air conditioning, and a projector and are comfortable Every now and then some sports and extracurricular activities are conducted in the college IIM Rohtak has a lot of club communities and one can be part of the basis interested, though there is a selection process for the same. Swaniti, FIC, and Reader writers club are few
Hostel Facilities
Rooms are not that big in IIM Rohtak, with bunker beds. Accommodation for two. This course is an on-campus program so one needs to be in a hostel only Mess is okay, but not that great, which is the case for most of the colleges. Though one should not worry about timing or quantity.
Interview Experience
The interview is an integral part of any MBA admission process. If one is experienced, then he/she should expect questions around the same. I was fresher and was prepared for questions on my academic projects, graduation subjects, life goals, strength, and weaknesses. Some unexpected questions were from 12th Mathematics, as I had a good score in that. Tell me about yourself is a must to be a prepared question. One should start preparing from CV itself, covering all the questions that can arise out of your CV. Mock PIs are essential.
