Course Curriculum Overview
I was getting this course only in NIT. The Faculty: student ratio is around 1:90 in theory classes and 1:45 in lab classes. Now since NIT is a brand it speaks for itself. All the faculty are highly qualified as they are Ph.D.. holders from IITs in their respective fields. some faculty are quite friendly and ready to help the students but some are too rigid in their process of teaching. Overall you might or might not understand the concept in class but later you need to study yourself to master the topic. since currently I am at the end of 2nd semester so in my 1st year comprising 2 semesters, 2 exams were held namely MID-SEM EXAM AND the END-SEM EXAM each semester. Since our 2022 batch started late due to Covid our first year was compressed from being of 12 months to 8 months. So in my first year exams were conducted every alternate month to pace up with the speed of other year batches. exams were not that difficult to pass. if you are an average student you can easily score up to 7.5 CGPA.
Internships Opportunities
Summer Internships opportunities are provided. Big player companies provide internship opportunities to our college students. average monthly stipend is around 10-15K per month which is quite decent and impressive keeping in mind the role of the job.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements only after getting their degree. fourth-year students sit for campus placement sessions whereas internship opportunities are provided by the college from 2nd year onwards. Major recruiters like Microsoft, Intel, Infosys, and JSW cement visit and offer good packages. The highest package on campus is around 52 lakhs for the CS department and the average package of on-campus placement is around 8-10 lakhs. And for an off-campus highest package of our college students is 1 Cr this year. Around 70 % of students get placed every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The whole B.Tech can be done in around 8-10 lakhs at maximum for general and obc creamy layer for rest SC, ST, OBC NCL there is 0 tuition fee for the whole B.Tech. and scholarship is also provided to much-needed students.
Campus Life
.Our college campus is just 100 acres, and space is not adequate according to college needs. But we have annually 3 fests i.e. Technical, sports and cultural fest namely AVARTAN, SAMAR, and ECLECTICKA respectively. First-year classrooms are very basic classrooms with not even proper cooling for classes during summer but all 3years classrooms are step classrooms with even A.C., lecture podium, and smart classrooms. Sports and extracurricular activities are ordinary and not that exciting. we do have a NSS club for helping needy people and we conduct programs regularly.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is very limited in our college like for the boys' hostel in the first year there are only 200 seats but no. of students is 1200. and for the next 3 years, there is one common hostel in which only the top 20 students from each branch get seats in hostel. The rest students live in rented accommodation near the college which is available in high abundance. Hostel fees are around 45k per year including mess and rent charges. And in 6k you can get an above par rented accommodation including both mess and rent. Mess food quality is very good in our college. Near the college, there are areas namely DDU NAGAR and KOTA.
Admission
I took admission through JEE MAINS. Every NIT in India gives candidates admission based on their JEE MAINS RANKS. JEE MAINS exam is conducted every year twice and you can find the application form on Google as a notification is released on jee mains.nta.ac.in. Application fees are around 62 for sc, st, and for the general category, it's around 1000rs. it keeps on changing. tentative dates of release of application are around December end and paper is conducted twice generally around January and April and the score of their best attempt is taken as final. Reservation benefits are there too as this is a national-level exam. If an average candidate of sc and st scores around 85 to 90 percentile you can easily get a seat in your home state NIT in your preferred branch but for the general category it is quite tough. Like I got a Mechanical Engineering branch in NIT Raipur as a home state benefit and SC with around 88 percentile. The admission process was done through JOSSA counseling and it was quite smooth.
