Remarks
College is good, administration is quite good, Infrastructure is not as good as private colleges but quite ok standard. College provides quite good learning experience and good for someone who is looking to get placements in core industry companies. College is very strict on attendance so it becomes something difficult to keep up and certain faculty are not upto the level of college. In all College is quite good, not easy to get into but once you get admission in it, must go for college.
Entrance Preview
RPET (Rajasthan Pre - Engineering Test) was the exam I appeared for to be eligible for admission in college. I got around 5500 rank out of total of around 50000 candidates appeared in exam in 2006. I opt out for the college because its first of all it is in my hometown. Secondly it is Govt. college (so education is more trustworthy) plus feedback and reviews of college was very good.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum was good. It covered all areas for an Engineer of Electronics and Instrumentation will get to work in working life. It also covered subjects related to programming so students who want to shift towards those areas in their career can take their learning forward.
Internships Opportunities
No, my college didn't provide any internship. My college did took us on some industry visits across Rajasthan which was quite good learning experience. Also no stipend is provided by college.
Placement Experience
Placements are quite good. I got selected in campus interview only, so lot of IT and core industry companies visit the college for placements. Out of my batch of 400 I think around 300 got placed in many companies like Infosys, TCS, HCL, NTPC, HPCL etc. Around 70 students opted for higher studies and rest were not places in campus interview.
College Events
College used to have one annual function which was like 2-3 days event. His function was sometimes open for other college entries as well and sometimes was only for internal students. The event was organized by college students (mostly 3rd year students). College committee permission was needed for any new event to be included as part of festival, which was mostly quite helping.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure was quite moderate. For General Category students tuition fee was around 50,000 Rs per year. Plus some 2000 to 3000rs expenditure on exam fee and extra administration fee. There were also some concessional seats for reserved category students and for women students.
Fees and Financial Aid
Loan facility was offered by many govt. banks. I didn't opt for any loan facility. But many of my friends opt for them, the loan was quite easily provided with minimum documentation and ok interest rates.
Campus Life
College life was quite easy going. College timing was quite early in day from 7:30 to 12:30 which allowed lot of time in afternoon and evening for personal learning and extracurricular activities. College has one big ground for sports lovers, also certain equipment's are provided by college association for training and matches.
Hostel Facilities
College didn't have any its own hostel. It used to have deals with private hostel facilities and allowed students to opt for them. The private hostels were quite ok, with all basic facilities and nearby to college. The private hostels were quite big so easily accommodate students who want to opt for them.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is quite good. Lot of connect between seniors and juniors. Many of the subjects have created lot of FB groups for college people to join and remain in touch. However college doesn't focus as such on this, it is just students who take it up and try to keep in contact and help each other when needed. For me personally, I am in touch with many of my seniors which are in various part of world now, so it helps me quite bit to know about things outside my usual area.
Exam Structure
Exam structure was quite hectic. Total of 1st year and 6 semesters were there as part of course. There used to be 6 subjects in each semester/year and each subject had 2 internal exams and 1 university level exam. Plus 2-3 subjects also had lab exams per semester. So total of over 24 exams per semester.
Admission
I had to appear for RPET exam. After I got the result of my exam, there was a choice form that I had to fill mentioning the college and branch I want to opt for out of the available colleges that come under RPET exam. Then based on merit and out of the options that I choosed I got selected for the choice I opted for. It was 5th choice that I opted for out of 10 choices that I filled. I didn't get the first 4 choices I selected because they were already opted by students who had better rank then me.
Faculty
Most of the faculty was quite experienced with over 10 years of experience in College, plus having good educations degrees. Some of the faculty which was mostly new or temporary faculty was quite bad, they were totally not aware of subjects they were teaching. But these were like 10% of total faculty so not big of problem.
