Remarks

Entrance Preview

We had one entrance exam VITEEE for all the states and also for NRI people. After which there are two counseling days, for filling up the course till the 5th category according to availability at VIT University. Till ranks of 1,00,000 generally, students are called and get assigned seats to their course of choice in either of the branches of VIT.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is well structured and planned. VIT follows MIT's FFCS (Fully flexible credit system). Students have full access to labs and other research material for helping with their thesis and research. The professors are always there for help and guidance.

Internships Opportunities

Almost all the major players came to our college. I myself placed in Wipro and cts in a dual placement offer. The placements and internship offers were so wide and it includes Google, Microsoft, cisco, oracle. Stipends depend on the company and it varies accordingly.

Placement Experience

4

Placements in VIT Chennai is categorized into 3 categories that are super-dream, dream, and normal. These three differ in terms of placements where super-dream companies start their offer starting from 12 lacs, dream companies, on the other hand, offer a package in the range of 6 to 12 lacs and finally, the normal offers where the companies offer a package between 3 to 6 lacs. About 80 % of students got placed this year. Companies like Google, Accenture, Wipro, TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Cognizant visited the campus this year. The highest package offered was around 28 lacs and the lowest was around 2.5 lacs.

College Events

3.5

Student societies are technological( like IEEE, ISTE, TEC ), space-related like SEDS, cultural like dance, music, debate, public speaking, drama, and art club. There are international chapters at VIT University like the Intra campus club and many start ups. College and seniors always encourage us to participate. Festivals of all the states are held here. Bengali New Year, Gudi Padwa, Dandiya, Pongal etc. College life is extremely happening. From studies to cultural activities, all are very good

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's not affordable. A bit expensive, INR 2 lakhs per annum is the course fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students at VIT University are offered a scholarship as per their rank. A sum of 50,000 is given to them. There is a huge group of students who have a scholarship.

Campus Life

4.5

Yes, the college encourages extracurriculars but to a limit and it brings inner talent.

Hostel Facilities

4

5 hostels are for girls and there are more than 11 hostels for boys, and they are well maintained, the cost ranges from INR 30000 to 50000. The quality of Classrooms, labs, libraries, dining halls, Wi-Fi, and other key infrastructure is excellent. Food is average, we need to adjust, not bad.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni network is one of the few active networks in the country. We keep getting updates of meetings and get-togethers in the country or even abroad on a Fb page created by some VIT alumni.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is very flexible and easy and it is all about earning credits for every subject paper. The total year is divided into 2 semesters, in which a mid-semester will be held in between.

Faculty

4

Faculty members are okay. A very few north Indian faculty members are there and they are very good. Some south Indian faculty members are also good while some are very strict. All the faculty members are very knowledgeable and well-qualified teachers. Teachers use both slides/projectors and blackboards depending upon the requirements of the subject. The student-faculty ratio is a maximum of 60. Industrial visits are done occasionally.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.

Around 70% of the class gets placed in reputed companies with an average CTC of 4-8 LPA. 3.) Along with core biotech companies, many IT companies are also hiring students at a very decent package. 4.) I plan to pursue a master's after this course.
