A good college, providing ample opportunities but a bit expensive

Overall, BITS Pilani is a really good college for the overall development for a student in personality or education or sports. You get ample opportunities here plus, the seniors are awesome here. They guide you at every step. You just need to come out of your room. Some students make this mistake and don't interact much. Believe me, BITS has the potential to offer you the world. You just need to explore it.

The ELIGIBILITY Criteria to join Birla Institute of Technology and Science is,You must have strictly secured more than 75% marks in your respective Board Examination.To get admitted you have to clear BITSAT (The Entrance Exam) - An online exam which tests your concepts, speed and accuracy.

The course curriculum was really good. There was a good mix of theory, research and applications. The best part being the student is free to learn anything without the burden of attending x% of the classes. However, I felt the curriculum was slightly inclined towards giving an industrial advantage rather than prompting a research-based career. But this was not applicable to all the disciplines.

Compulsory internship is provided to us by BITS into reputed companies according to our grades and same companies also come for placements and even provide pre-placement offer if they like the performance.

All famous companies like Flipkart, Amazon, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments etc visits the campus during the placement season. More than 90% of students are well placed.The average salary of students in IT sectors is obviously higher than those in their core companies. The good part is that more than 80% of IT companies are open for electronics students.

An uncountable number of student societies are there at BITS Pilani.The main festivals on the campus are ATMOS(technical), ARENA(sports), PEARL(cultural).

The course fee is around Rs 2.5 lakhs per annum. It will increase every year around 12-15% due to inflation.

There is a merit scholarship as well as MCN scholarship option.Students with annual income less than Rs 5.5 lakhs per annum can apply for MCN at BITS Pilani.Yes, loans are needed for some people. I took from SBI bank.

BITS pilani campus is well known for giving freedom to students to do what they like.There are students societies and associations present one of which is Crux- programming club, music club, dance club, photography club, movie club, shades- art club.

8 hostels are there at BITS Pilani.The fee is Rs 12000 per semester.No idea about the PG option.The cost of the meal is Rs 112 per day. The quality of food is average.

I would rate BITS Alumni Network in the Top 3. BITS has one of the biggest Alumni days celebrated on the 7th August of every year when all Alumni Globally organise Local Meetups. There are google Groups and help specially for students who are travelling for competitions abroad and Seed Funding for entrepreneurs.

BITS education believes in evaluating the capability rather than the ability to memorize things. Exams focused on the application of the concepts learned during the course. Most of the exams were open book. Needless to say answers were not present in the books.

The faculty members here are well-qualified and most of them are of helping nature. Assistant professors have at least Ph.D. qualifications. You have to make your time own time tables and can decide what you want to study apart from your major.
