Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I want to become a media executive and pursue a career in filmmaking. We had forty students in our class and there were five permanent faculties and 3 visiting/guest faculties. We also had frequent masterclasses conducted by professors from other universities for practical hands-on experience. The professors were duly qualified, three out of the five permanent faculties had completed their Ph.Ds. and another one was pursuing his Ph.D. All of them had a lot of experience in their specific field of work. The teaching method focused more on theory and less on practicals. If I were to suggest changes then it would be to increase the practical papers. We had CIAs (Continuous Internal Assessments) throughout our semester and then we had semester exams bi-annually. Exams were pretty difficult as we had to use our creative faculty and evaluation was subjective as well.
Internships Opportunities
The college has a placement cell where you have to register and pay a fee and only then you are eligible to receive internship opportunities from various companies. I had not registered under the placement cell there I do not have any information for the same. The placement cell is good for students from the B.Com department.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fess was increased every year. The students protested but no actions were taken by the management. There were options for scholarships and concessions. However, I do not know the details as I did not avail those opportunities.
Campus Life
The Annual Fest is called Xavotsav. It is organized in December or January. The library is huge and students can find books regarding any topic or any course in which they are interested. Besides the library, we were given a J-stor membership as well for e-resources. The classrooms were spacious, clean, and hygienic. Our department had air conditioners but not all departments had them. The classrooms were well lit and there were smart boards in every classroom. The annual sports day is organized in January and besides that, several other sports events are organized throughout the academic year. The Department of Sports is one of the most active societies in the college. Apart from the Annual Sports Day, the Xavierian Premiere League (XPL) is organized in June/July. It is based on the IPL model. There are various societies in the college - XTS (Xavierian Theatrical Society), XFA (Xavierian Film Academy), XADAM (Xavierian Academy of Dance & Music), etc.
Admission
Eligibility - Pass marks in the class 12 examination. Application Forms, fees, and dates were available on the college website. The admission process was very smooth and user-friendly and I don't think any improvements are required right now.
