What Students Say
Likes
- The college has a vast campus which is always a pro for the students.
- The number of extra curricular activities organised by the college is much appreciated, from Industrial visits to fests.
Dislikes
- The hostel could really do with some changes, from the menu in the mess to the management.
- The college, being autonomous, should try to update the curriculum with the the latest technology and make sure that the teachers do the same.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose CSE because it is one of the best courses offered by the college. The curriculum aligns well with industry requirements and provides opportunities to gain practical experience through internships and projects. The faculty: student ratio is about 50:1, which allows for adequate attention and support provided to each student. The teaching method is generally satisfactory. Also, a review is conducted at the end of each semester to get feedback from the students. In terms of exams, the schedule was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the schedule is now mostly back on track. The difficulty of exams was reasonable and easy to pass with sufficient study and preparation.
Placement Experience
The college has a dedicated placement cell, which offers placement from the 6th semester onwards. Various companies visit the college like TCS, Hashedin, Cape Gemini, PhonePE, Accenture, etc. This time almost 450 students received an offer with the highest offer being around 1600000.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees are quite reasonable for a mid-tier college like this. There's a marginal increase in the fees for each other but nothing unreasonable. Moreover, the college provides various scholarships for students. While I haven't applied for any scholarship, I've met a lot of students who have benefitted greatly from these scholarships.
Campus Life
The college organizes various fests throughout the year. There are 3 major fests, 2 of which are conducted every odd semester, and the third and biggest is organized in the even semester. Moreover, every even semester, each department organizes its fests with widespread participation from the students. The college also boasts a huge library with the latest books, a floor dedicated to self-study as well as a digital library. The classrooms are all equipped with smart boards for an immersive learning experience, a feature that is used extensively by teachers. The college also holds Sports Day, which includes more sports than you can remember.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel provides various types of accommodation for the students, ranging from single rooms all the way to 4 sharing rooms. The rooms are spacious and are regularly cleaned. There's also a small gym in the hostel along with table tennis and carrom facilities. The meal quality does leave something to be desired. There are 2 mess, one for north food and one for south food. However, the quality of food would do good to have some improvement. The registration process for the hostel is also straight forward, just fill a form and make the payment after you have completed the registration process in the college.
Admission
The college accepts applications via COMED-K and also through KCET for locals. The admission process is pretty straightforward, there are 3 rounds of counseling and you can change your preferences after each round. The cutoff for CSE was around 20000 in 2020 which has progressively improved each year. The whole fee structure and cut-off criteria can be found on both the COMED-K site as well as the college website.
