Remarks

Overall my college is well disposed to become one of the top national law university in the coming years as we have able professors and a zeal in the students and teachers alike to improve the college. The college has grown by leaps and bounds in the 11 years of its existence and it is bound to only grow further. It's a sheer joy to be a part of an organization that is well on the way up!

Entrance Preview

I wrote the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) which is held for all the law school aspirants in the country. I landed up in this college through my rank and score in the test after which an interview session at the college was held by the authorities. My choice of course stemmed from my passion to be a legal eagle and the benefit of donning a black suit for the rest of my professional career, much similar to the Men in Black

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course gets hectic with the passage of time as we have to do our bachelors and LLB at the same time. We get six subjects in our semesters as of now which is a healthy mix of social sciences and an option of One Major and two minor subjects. The Majors include Political Science , Economics and Sociology whereas the minors may include Eco, Pol Sci, History and Sociology. In law practical learning is equally important and for the same we intern during our summer and winter breaks which combined exceed about three months. Our college s internship cell provides us with opportunities for the same. Research is laid great emphasis on by the college and we have four research centers with their teacher coordinators who undertake various researches throughout the year and come up with their respective publications.

Internships Opportunities

The college provides us with a variety of opportunities for interning at ngos, advocates etc, and also give us internship recommendation letters if we like to apply to different places than those suggested by the university. As I have interned only under ngos, I have not received stipends yet.

Placement Experience

3.5

Details of placement are not very well known to me personally.

College Events

4

We have a variety of Cultural Fests within the college and almost all the students of the university participate in it. It is not only well organized but also prove to be a stress buster from the usual routines. However major intra college fests are yet to be conducted for which the college is looking into options.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees of our college is about 1,93,000 per annum. Keeping in mind the amenities and the infrastructure available with us, the pricing is justified.

Campus Life

5

Just like every college student feels about his college life, my experience has been surreal to say the least - however with a twist. The college gives opportunities for extracurricular by organizing talent hunts at various times and the facilities are adequate for the same. The cultural committee gives ample opportunities for budding musicians , dancers , actors etc. The surrealistic experience is aided by the fact that my college has air conditioned classes and hostel rooms. It makes temperatures like those in Patiala not only bearable, but also never let them act as an impediment in our zeal to excellence!

Hostel Facilities

4

We have rooms on sharing in which two students stay in one room , however as we progress into the senior years , we are offered single rooms on the basis of merit. The rooms are absolutely stunning with well attached cupboards, brand new beds and desks and also Air Conditioners which further enhance the joys of college life. The food is good and has a homely touch to it. The total cost for the mess fees and the rooms are 15000 each for every semester which makes it to about 60000 per annum (30000 mess, 30000 room)

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni of our college is still to diversify as my college was established only in 2006 and has had just six batches pass out. Even after considering this fact, the college does call our past seniors for interactive sessions to whom we can pose our questions to freely.

Exam Structure

Every student in his college life despises exams , and I am no exception to the rule! We have mid semesters and end semesters however they are placed at time which offer adequate gap to be able to study for both the examinations.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is well qualified and are subjected to evaluation from the students every year through the teachers evaluation form. The students can freely grade the teachers on a variety of parameters and can add additional comments. The teachers are not only interactive, but are available for queries and additional help even after the classes. Also the standard of teaching is high as the classes are a joy to sit in!

Course Curriculum Overview:

The LLB curriculum at Chandigarh University is relevant and fairly comprehensive. The course includes subject such as constitutional of criminal civil procedure and legal writing which were important factor in choosing the program. The curriculum focus on building a strong critical base along with basic critical exposure. The syllabus helps student understand legal concept clearly and prepare them for internship for studies and competitive exams. Internal assessment, presentation and assignment. Encourage regular learning and improve analytical and research skills. 1 area of improvement could be increasing practical exposure through more "activities, internship and real life case discussion overall the well structured and suitable for student who were serious about a carrier in law while still leaving scope for self learning and skill development

In our college student become elgible for placement from 9th semester onwards i.e the second last semester.
