Freedom and encouragement

The College does not have the best infrastructure or facilities. There is also no wifi in the campus. Your experience in this college will be different for the course you choose. Mechatronics department is lenient and our teachers give is the freedom to miss classes and go for competitions. The toilets are not that clean. The library does not have all the latest textbooks. The attendance requirement is 85% but some departments in the college are strict about it and others not. Seniors are friendly and I have not experienced any type of ragging or bullying.

I did not write any entrance exam, I came to this college via management. But getting a seat in mechatronics in oxford is easy as you dont require a high rank in the CET entrance exam. I was not eligible to write CET because I am not a local of Karnataka. There are only two colleges in Bangalore with mechatronics. Oxford is located closer to my home and is also in close proximity to the city. I choose mechatronics because i wanted a course that was not restricted to one specific field. For management students there is no interview process.

The subjects taught are a mixture of Mechanical , Computer science and EEE subjects, so we learn a variety of topics which make this course more interesting than others. We don't have a proper lab which is specific for our course. The textbooks are filled with a lot of theory but some of our faculties try teach us concepts in a practical way, like where and how the concept will be used. There have been no research initiatives specifically taken by the mechatronics department, but few other departments have and we can indulge in them.

The college does not provide any internship. We students personally have to go looking for internships. Currently I have not done any internship and cannot speak on the experience. Also we don't get many holidays between semesters just a maximum of one month and sometimes just ten days, so we don't get a lot time for doing internships.

There are no placements specifically for mechatronics. Last year only two students got placed from mechatronics and the company was tech mahindra. Some of the major companies are Accenture, Amazon and Bosch. The average package is 25,000 INR. Overall the placement scenario is not good especially for mechatronics as it is just an upcoming field in India.

For management the fee is 1,49,590 INR per annum. For CET students the fee is much lesser (60,000 INR) . In terms of affordability, yes it is affordable and for mechatronics Oxford is the cheapest option in Karnataka. For transportation the college bus fee is 16,500 INR per annum and it is the same for all routes no matter how far or near you stay to the college.

Our faculties have masters degrees in various field such as mechanical, electrical etc they are young and do not have a lot of teaching experience. But that depends on each teacher, some of them are very interactive and they ask the students to give seminars which is useful. Then there are other teachers who know the concepts but lack the skills required to tech. Some of them also encourage us to not stick to the syllabus and try to learn new things by doing projects.
