Remarks
Overall learning experience was very good. The issue at my time was that the institute was very far away from the town. There was very less public convenience available. At night, safety of students especially girls was not good so we had to return to the college before dark. Rules and regulations very strict thats why the college has still maintained its reputation in the UPTU universities. I would say those college days were a great part of my life and I would never forget them.
Entrance Preview
I gave the UPTU examination. The selection was based on the merit list. AKGEC had a very great reputation amongst the UP engineering colleges therefore I preferred this college. No, there was no interview process. My interest and passion in the field of technology made me opt Bachelor of Technology course.
Course Curriculum Overview
i chose CSE course due to my interest in computer science. The course I chose was majorly a lab based course. So in the first two years we were imparted both theoretical n practical knowledge but in the end years mostly there were practical labs only. There was also a special training program for 2 months in my 3rd year conducted by Infosys to provide the field experience to students. Other course options available were IT, ECE and EEE.
Internships Opportunities
No, there was no internship provided by the college but it was compulsory for the students to do field internships in their respective field at the end of the 3rd year. The internship also some credits in the next semester. I did my internship in NTPC. It was a good experience and I got to learn a lot but there was no pay. They gave me the certificate on completion of the internship.
Placement Experience
The placement was very good. Around 95% students of my batch got placed. Many got 2 or more job offer letters. 2007 was a peak time in IT sector so there was lot of demand of engineers. The companies that visited the campus were Infosys, HCL, L&T, Satyam and the average package at my time was of 3-4lakh per annum(Now its around 6-7lakh). Although CS/IT students had an upper hand in placements as compared to Electrical students but still they also well placed.
College Events
Yes, the college authorities do contributed in organising various events in the college. Proper funds were given to organise cultural and technical events like Techfest, RoboWars, Dandiya night, Prom night. National level seminars on material science, humanities were also conducted. The cultural fest was the biggest event organised in the college with approximately a footfall of 2000 students.(At that time this was a huge number.)
Fee Structure And Facilities
Engineering fees at my time was very less. I completed my Btech in Computer Science within 5 lakhs. The average semester fees including tuition fees, hostel and mess was 50k. At my time even 50k was a huge amount Although in the recent decade there was a great hike in the fees. The fees in these days are around 1.5 lakh which is quite affordable in these days.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes, the college provided scholarships to top 3 students of every branch and I was always amongst the scholarships winner. The scholarship amount was of 5000 that I usually got. No loan facilities were provided by the college. If you want a loan you have to contact the banks individually.
Campus Life
Yes, there were lot of extracurriculars. We got all sports facilities like the basketball court, volleyball court, cricket ground etc with proper equipments. Inter college tournaments, National level tournaments of various games were held in our college. Even Yoga sessions were also organised for relaxation of students. Overall, it was very good.
Hostel Facilities
Yes, I took the hostel. It had 3 bed sharing rooms. There were no PGs available at that time. The food quality was fine. We someone survived 4 years with maggis. The pay for the hostel and mess at my time was around 20-25k per semester.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni Meet was the only platform when students and alumni interact with each other. The college had a poor record of maintaining with the alumni.Neither are seniors were kept connected with the college nor we have been a part of any contribution towards the college. But yes on a personal basis I helped many of my juniors in studies and placements.
Exam Structure
There was regular assessment done in the form of quiz, labs, assignments. At the end of the semester there were end semester examinations held at different UPTU centres. Yes, the regular assignments and frequent labs made day tired
Faculty
All the faculty were very interactive and highly experienced. All were qualified professors with MTech or PhD degrees. Regular classes were organised by the professors and they were very serious related to mass bunks. The standard of teaching set in AKGEC was very good. Every year 1000 of great engineers were created, everyone getting good placements.
