My college experience

I felt I wanted to do engineering so that I could delve deep into subject and work on projects that matter and standout. This is not the case. We are left frustrated with the continuous tests and internals. Since its student life, we are carrying on with it and making adjustments. There is very little to no time available for external studies or inter disciplinary approach.

I wrote K-CET for seeking admission in this college. I secured a rank of 2158, sufficient enough to get into Electronics and Communication stream. K-CET follows a selection procedure in stages. I was allocated the seat in second round. I chose ECE since CS wasn't available for me.

The course emphasis is mainly theoretical. Although we have done projects completing the curriculum, the rigorous,continuous and comprehensive evaluation leaves us with very less time to involve ourselves in projects. Usually after the even semester end exams,in the months of June and July we have ample time for projects and practical learning. No, currently Research Initiatives taken by the college that I'm aware of.

Internship isn't provided by the college per sem. Usually the students apply to internship portal form IAS. Handful of students get selected and the stipend was around 5k.

Usually the placement scenario is the best in city. That is the reason students opt for SJCE. Mostly from the circuit branches everybody gets placed. HP,Oracle, Bosch are a few top companies visiting the campus. The average package is 8 Lakhs.

SJCE is known for even semester annual fest - Jayciana. It is the most awaited fest and is the biggest event for the year. Other than that, tech fests by IEEE, CSI and Linux student bodies are organised.

We pay Rs.18000(other fees) + Rs.45000 (tution fees). The fee varies according to the seat allocation by K-CET.

The college provides scholarship to SC/ST students and few to GM with income under 6 lpa. Usually this poliy is exploited. I couldn't avail any scholarship.

No, I couldn't participate in extra curriculars. Its hard taking time out for them for us, being from ECE branch. I burn the midnight oil to work on my interests.

I stay in my home since the college is in my city of residence. As far as I know, the Hostel rooms can be shared or stayed single. Some of my friends stay in PGs and away from hostels. The quality of food is minimal.

We did get to interact with few alumni in the fresher year. I think, there is a annual student-alumni interaction session in college. Few of the alumni do contribute to the development of college and students.

Yes, the college follows the principle of 3 tests and 2 events leaving us tired. These are further worsened with the addition of writing records and observation for labs.

Mostly the faculty are M.Tech qualified with a few having PhD. Barring a few, the rest just follow content from reputed sources of books. So, it can be said that the quality of teaching is medium.
