Remarks
Good college and the students can enjoy their engineering life while still gaining knowledge.
Entrance Preview
The one and only entrance exam to my college is the Jee Advanced. To get qualified for Jee Advanced the students are required to qualify the Jee mains. I wrote Jee mains and got qualified for the advanced. I got a good rank in the Jee advanced and I applied for counselling. I opted for Chemical branch as i love chemical engineering. There was no interview process for an admission into any IIT.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course which I choose is Chemical engineering. It fascinated me a lot. The course curriculum not only concentrates on the academics but also on the extracurricular activities. Every student needs to choose some optional subjects from a list given by the college along with the core subjects. In the first year, i took my optional subject as psychology. There were labs almost every day and they mainly focused on the practical learning. Many research initiatives were taken by the institute. We also get a chance to take part in them.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, there are some internships offered by the college. But most of the students opt for their own internships in the newly started start ups so that they can prove themselves. Some students also get a chance to intern with some MNC's. I have never gone for any internship till now as i completed my 1st year recently, but my seniors told that it was a very great experience to work with professional colleagues. Also they got exposed to the real world work scenario.
Placement Experience
The placement in IIT Kanpur has a good history. This is all because of the Students Placements Office(SPO), which is maintained by the staff and the students. Some of my college past recruiters include HSBC, Amazon,Atkins, Hero Honda, DR. Reddy's, Accenture, Morgan Stanley, etc,. All the students get a chance to participate in the placement interviews. But getting a job only depends on the skill and talent of the student. The average package is nearly 8 to 9 lakhs per annum.
College Events
There are many events conducted by my college like Antaragni, which is a annual cultural fest in which many students from different colleges take part. With the help of these events we get a chance to interact with our peers in different colleges. Also many companies fund the event. So many representatives of the company come and interact with us.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is okay. Most of the middle class families can afford it. The tuition fee is 2 lakhs per annum. This is reasonable because the tuition fee in many other deemed university is much more high and we are getting a quality education here. The hostel and mess fee is nearly 75,000 per annum. So totally it costs up to 2.75 lakhs per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are no scholarships provided by my college. But loans students can take educational loans from banks. Also the banks are ready lo offer loans a a very less interest.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are not good. The rooms were very small and are not well furnished. They are built many years ago. The mess food is good. There is a variety of menu every day. There are separate hostels for girls and boys. There were no PG's. Every one has to live in the hostels only. The hostel and mess fee constitutes 75,000 INR per annum.
Alumni/Alumna
My college owns a alumni network of international reputation. Many of my college students are working in reputed corporate companies. Also my seniors were very good. They are always ready to help the juniors in all possible wayss.
Faculty
The faculty are excellent and have a very good knowledge of the subject. This can be understood by the way they are teaching us. The standards of teaching is very good. But the problem is that when i first came into my college i could not understand any thing, not even a single class because they were way too fast. Later i got habituated to their teaching. The teaching style is completely different from what you had in schools or college. There is no spoon feeding here.
