What Students Say
Likes
- The things i like most about BIT Sindri is, it's strong alumni network, decent placement with a great return of investment, well qualified faculties with good teaching experience and the amount of time a student gets for his/her self development.
Dislikes
- No electricity issue is one of the most irritating thing because being in coal field area that to in Dhanbad, it ks very difficult to face hot temperature inside hostel. Because of no electricity the generators are used later on
- Extremely poor infrastructure. Lack of basic amenities like water filters, electricity and ease to market
Course Curriculum Overview
I'm persuing a Btech degree in Mechanical Engineering branch because BIT Sindri, is the oldest branch along with the electrical branch and has the strongest alumni network with alumni placed in the best core sector companies like Vedanta, Tata Steel, etc and even in multiple IT companies in a very high position which we all get to know during alumni meet. Per studentsl there is pretty good amount of faculties as every subject has more than 4 teachers which are highly qualified and experienced.Even EGD(drawing and graphics) teacher is a PhD holder. Examinations are conducted as per JUT calender and internal exams are conducted in a manner in which students get sufficient time to prepare and score good marks
Internships Opportunities
From the Second year itself, companies like Tata Steel, Vedanta, Aditya Birla, etc provide internship offers and students who are highly skilled also get a chance to get internships in Canada. So for internships and placements, it's a win-win side.
Placement Experience
From 5th semester candidates become eligible for campus placements. More than 50 companies visited the campus offering a handsome amount of packages to the students. some companies are Vedanta, Tata Steel, Samsung, Wipro, TCS, L&T, Tech Mahindra, Adani Group etc. More than 600 offers were made over the last 2 years and it is increasing every year so there is a high probability of getting an offer of more than 1000. Highest on campus placement is 21 lakhs in mining department and 32 lakhs in IT department. More than 80% of the students registered for campus placements got their placements. As for myself, I am considering 2 options after getting my degree one to do business or to get placement and then go for business.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for students are very nominal and many scholarships are provided for needy students or students who belong to certain categories/ies. For boys, the annual tuition fee is 7732 rupees, and for girls, in economically weaker sections, and for ST/SC the tuition fee is 32 rupees. The college provides scholarships such as FFE, Ekalyan, Siemens, and ONGC.
Campus Life
Many fests are conducted at small and medium levels such as Light Sindri, Sandhan, Dhatvika, etc. Techutsav is a tech fest that is conducted at a large level and continues for one week in which several guests are invited and many tech competition is conducted. Students also participate very enthusiastically There are plenty of books in the library which is approx 4 lakhs books(well number can be little low if not 4 lakhs). Also the library the WiFi enabled with good network connectivity. The only con related to the library is that it is not open 24*7 and closes at 4:30 PM. There are 20 clubs and societies combined together which conduct an enormous amount of extracurricular activities and social activities for students who are part and even not part of that particular society/club.
Admission
To take admission in BIT Sindri, a candidate must give JEE main exam and score a sufficient percentile to get admission. Also, there is minimum marks criteria in class 12th to be eligible for admission. The applicant has to fill out the form for JCECEB counselling which is state-level counselling conducted by the JCECEB Board of Jharkhand State. Jceceb releases its own state merit list based on the percentile and rank of the candidate in Jee mains. Cutoffs for different colleges are different and for BIT Sindri it's huger than any other college in the state associated with the Jharkhand University of Technology. The counselling has four rounds and for each round, the candidate has to give certain counselling fees which was rupees 500 in my case. After counselling college reporting takes place and candidates take admitted.
