Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course through JOSSA counseling according to my rank. There is a good faculty: student ratio. There are sufficient teachers for every subject. And all the professors are well qualified with Ph.D. from reputed colleges and are experienced too. There are two exams in a semester - mid-semester and end-semester. Mid-semester is of 30 marks and end semester is of 50 marks and 20 marks is for teachers evaluation. Exams are not that tough to pass. If you have the notes of the class and know the favorite portion of the teacher, it's enough to pass a semester.
Internships Opportunities
Various companies offer internship opportunities at NIT Jamshedpur like Jusco, Amazon, Attalssian, Axxela, Exxon Mobil, Tata, Swift Re, GE Healthcare, Adobe, FlyFin, etc. These offer summer internships of two months. Various companies also offer six-month internships like Flipkart, HSBC, Aspect Ratio, Uber, etc. Some of these companies also offer FTE and ppo based on scenarios.
Placement Experience
From the 7th Semester, students become eligible for campus placements. Some of the companies who visit our campus are Amazon, Atlassian, Adobe, EXL, EY, Genpact, ICICI bank, Axis bank, Deloitte, Fractal, Flipkart, Flexcar, HSBC, Exxon Mobil, Reliance Industries, Tata Projects, Vedanta, LnT. The highest package is 83LPA, and 750+ offers were made by 250+ recruiters.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are usually stable. 100% tuition fee waiver for SC/ST/PH students. For General and OBC: You can avail of scholarships based on your family income i.e if your income is between 5 lakhs and 1 lakh, you can get 2/3 rd of the waiver on your tuition fees and if your income is less than 1 lakh then you can get full remission of the tuition fees.
Campus Life
The Clufest is the annual fest of NIT Jamshedpur and Ojass is the technical fest of NIT Jamshedpur. The library is open for days a week and has an ample amount of books of all courses present there, so need to buy a book for your entire engineering career. NIT Jamshedpur has got its new Diamond Jubilee Complex Hall with a centralized AC. We have our annual sports Urja where all the sports person showcases their talents. There are various clubs and societies led by students like the dramatics club Aahwahan Singing club Rooh, and Techincal Clubs like Phoenix Team Drift, Team Rays Team Revanata. Individual societies of each branch and ours we have a branch fest too 'VIDDHAN' Civil Engineering branch fest.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel Facility is pretty decent. You have a bed, a cupboard, a chair, a table with proper ventilation and LAN/ wifi facilities For girls presently you have shared a room, but new girls' hostels are being built, which may allow 2-1 girl per room. The mess Facility in our hostels is way better than many NIT and IITs.
Admission
To get admission to NIT Jamshedpur one has to clear the JEE Mains exam with a good rank. You can get the application form of JEE mains on the NTA's website and the application form is released around September every year. NTA conducts the JEE mains exam twice a year and the best score out of the two is taken for the evaluation of the rank. After getting a decent rank in JEE mains you can sit for JOSSA counseling and CSAB counseling and opt for IIT, NIT, GFTIs, and CFTIs. Cut-off usually varies from 19k to 60k for various branches.
