Course Curriculum Overview
I'm very much interested in Finance and I wanted to do something in the field of finance so I chooses Bcom for the beginning. The faculty are very good Dean of our college is very calm along with many teachers. Students are very promising as we have compulsory attendance, so we see each other every day. So, teachers and students share a healthy bond. Teachers mostly pass out students from the college itself and most of them are CA. I think they have to do research and write a research paper every year. We have exams of 100 marks which are divided into 5 parts. First 5 marks for attendance. Second 2 marks for class seminar attendance. Third 3 marks for the project. Fourth 10 marks for Internals which is conducted as 40 and then converted into 10. Fifth, Sem exams of 80 marks. Internals are being conducted at the end of 3 months from the beginning of the new semester and after 1.5 months of internals Sem exams took place. It's very difficult to pass the exam.
Placement Experience
In the Third Year students are eligible for campus placement. There are very famous companies visiting such as PWC, TCS, Deloitte, Accenture, L&B, ICICI Bank etc. I don't know about the packages they offered. The highest place I have heard of is 24 LPA. I think 20% of the students get placement. I will do CFA after getting the degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is very much costly as a middle-class family it's very hard to pay the obligation. The college always gives internship opportunities on a daily basis, there are many societies that organized events that help to build the skills of a student As of now, I heard campus jobs are also good, very renowned companies came at the end of the year to select candidates.
Campus Life
Xavotsav is the annual fest it is conducted around Jan - Feb. Tech fests are mostly conducted by societies. There are varieties of books and journals available in the library that anyone can read. College focused on extracurricular activities as they tend to do 45 hrs of social credits from each student. Sports tournaments are organized mostly and College team participation in every sport is a must in major outside tournaments. There are many societies in college.
Admission
the procedure for online admission is very good. I haven't taken or given any entrance exam for admission as all things were been online, but as of now all things settled apart the verification of documents is being conducted in offline mode and a small interview is conducted by professors. For studying at St Xavier's College Kolkata, the cut-off for ICSE are around 93-94%, for CBSE is around 90-92%, and for the West Bengal board, it will be around 85%. Only one list of selected candidates is being published if students didn't take admission after getting selected then the college publishes the second list. Reservation Benefits are not such but if the reason is very strong then it could have been helped by the Father of the college. The admission process was very much smooth.
