Course Curriculum Overview
I studied commerce in class 12th so B. Com is a natural progression for me. Another reason is that St. Xavier's College Kolkata is an esteemed college and B.Com(Hons.) is the flagship course of the institution. The faculty-to-student ratio is pretty good, to the point where rarely any classes are cancelled. Most of the faculty members are highly qualified and experienced. Most of them are also accessible after class hours. Since St. Xavier's is an autonomous college the term exams and the consequent results are very timely. The course schedule is very stringent.
Internships Opportunities
The internship opportunities offered by the college are numerous often encompassing both online and offline internships. The internships offered have been in finance, marketing and accounting positions for the commerce stream as well as content writing and other creative positions for the arts stream.
Placement Experience
The eligibility to sit in placements is being in the final year of your course. Not many UG students go for placements as they want to go for higher educational qualifications. My plan after getting a degree is to pursue MBA.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is very reasonable, especially in the Morning department considering the government discount on the course fee. The Placement Cell of the college is very active in providing various internship and placement options.
Campus Life
The college fest is usually conducted in the month of February. The libraries have an ample collection of books course and otherwise. The library also has a research section dedicated to researchers. There are tons of extracurricular activities in the college throughout the year conducted by various societies run by students.
Admission
There were multiple steps in the admission process. First, the application form was to be filled out and submitted along with the required testimonials. The application form was easily accessible theough the college's website. The list of approved students was announced through the website. The documents then went through a verification process. And at last there was orientation for the students of the new batch.
