Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as I was always interested in inorganic chemistry more specifically in metallurgical processes and applications and the core placements are really good here compared to many institutes. The faculty: student ratio is pretty good, pretty much all the teachers here hold a Ph.D. degree or have relevant industry experience. We have up-to-date lab tech which helps in our practical knowledge. Exams here are taken generally on time and the papers are pretty tough according to me.
Internships Opportunities
A number of companies come here with internship opportunities, for metallurgical and materials one of the biggest companies that come for internship are Tata Steel, Vedanta, etc. Projects are a part of our curriculum.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements in their 7th semester and almost all are placed, our overall placement percentage is 97.2 percent as of 2022. Those who are not placed either opt for higher education or go for off-campus placement. Our overall average package is 15.98 Lpa and the Highest package is 75.2 Lpaas of 2022. The average package of the MME branch is 9 Lpa and the highest is 20 Lpa as of 2022.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is quite reasonable for a National Institute of Technology. The semester fees are generally Rs. 105000 and financial aid is available for people and poor financial backgrounds. Scholarships are also available.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is really good, we have a lot of cultural, sports, and technical fest conducted. We have Culfest, the annual cultural fest, Ojass, the annual techno-management fest, and Urja, our annual sports fest. Apart from these we also have Branch specific fest for example MME branch has Technica. You can learn a lot like management and leadership skills by being part of these fests. Our library boasts books which are great in variety and number. We have several cultural and technical clubs for various activities. these clubs are solely run by students and you have fun while learning a lo6t of things by being a part of these clubs. Some of our popular clubs are Team Phoenix, I&AR, LDS, Qunite, etc.
Admission
The admission to B.Tech in NIT Jamshedpur is based on performance in JEE Mains Examination and the seat allotment is done on the JOSAA website. The cutoff for Metallurgical and materials engineering varies each year depending on the difficulty of the exam, the number of seats available, no. of candidates appearing, etc. The JOSAA cutoff for the OBC Female category in the year 2021 for metallurgical and materials engineering was 72400(CRL). I would that the admission process can be faster and a bit smoother.
