Likes
- The curriculum here is impressive, covering relevant subjects at a suitable pace while providing practical knowledge to students. Workshops and clubs offer students a valuable opportunity to gain exposure to various fields.
- The college has a variety of sports and indoor games to keep students busy during their free time and also help them prepare for competitions. I really like this aspect.
- I enjoy the monthly DJ nights, fests, and other events that provide entertainment. The well-built infrastructure creates a pleasant environment for me to thrive in.
Dislikes
- The hostel faculty's excessive strictness and lack of cooperation create an unfavorable environment for me. It becomes challenging to navigate hostel life smoothly and comfortably when dealing with such rigid rules and a lack of support.
- Campus medical facilities are inadequate; the dispensary lacks necessary medicines. Obtaining a gate pass for nearby hospital is cumbersome and restrictive
- Management lacks communication, leaving us uninformed. We must visit multiple places for a single task, causing inconvenience.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum focuses on essential subjects, excluding irrelevant ones like Biology in CSE. Pratical knowledge is emphazized during the 2nd and 3rd years, where industry experts and external trainers conduct classes. Faculty qualification are impressive, with many holding PhDs and some pursuing Phds within university itself. While some professors studied at esteemed IITs, teaching abilities vary.
Internships Opportunities
Internships form various renowned companies are offered like Adobe, Infosys, IBM, etc. Our university attracts companies offering full-stack roles, Software development engineer etc. and Ishita's achievement is a prime example. Recently She secured an SDE internship at Amazon, earning a remarkable stipend of 1.10 lakh per month. I didn't know much about internships by now. As its not started for our batch.
Placement Experience
Campus placements for CSE students start in the 6th semester of the 3rd year, with opportunities for internships leading to pre-placement offers (PPOs). Renowned companies like Infosys, IBM, Microsoft, Adobe, etc., visit the campus for recruitment. In the 2023 batch, nearly all students secured placements, leaving only around 30-40 students unplaced by the end of the 8th semester. Faculty members are dedicated to assisting these students in securing placements. Almost 100% of the students are successfully placed, except those opting for further studies. My goal after graduation is to secure a position in a reputed company and pursue a job in my chosen field.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is different for different courses. For B.E in CSE. During my batch 2021-25, per semester fee is 82000. Their are various scholarships for minorities sections details of which are provided on the official website. As of now, I am currently pursing the course and I am in 3rd year. So, I am not placed yet. My hostel fee currently is 66500 and the hostel fee increases per year by 5-10%, while the semester fee remains the same during the whole course.
Campus Life
The campus hosts monthly DJ nights featuring celebrities like Kapil Sharma, Sargun Mehta, and Ammy Virk, promoting movies and entertainment. Numerous festivals like Sneakers Fest, and Designing School Fest occur. The library houses extensive resources, catering to different departments like CSE, B.Tech, and MBA. Classrooms are modern with ACs and projectors. Abundant sports facilities for cricket, football, volleyball, and hockey, with teams participating in external competitions. Clubs like IEEE, E-cell, C2S2, and GFG encourage coding, entrepreneurship, dancing, painting, singing, and more, fostering diverse student interests. On campus, students have designed innovative apps like "food" for easy food ordering, and websites like "chakpad" and "uhostel" for attendance, student details, hostel fee payments, and gate pass applications. Regular workshops are held by Indian and foreign industrialists, including Korean, enriching student learning.
Admission
The admission form was simple and offered both online and offline application options. For online applications, candidates could access the university website: chitkara.edu.in, where they could find the application form and relevant details such as application fees and deadlines. Additionally, an inquiry form was available on the website, allowing applicants to seek information about the fee structure, application process, and selection criteria. As for offline applications, interested individuals could visit two buildings on the campus named "Hello Future" and "Babbage Block" to obtain the application form. During the admission process for my batch, there was no entrance exam. Instead, students were selected based on their 12th board examination percentage and JEE Main scores. In addition to that, during offline admissions, students and parents had the opportunity to explore the entire campus and get firsthand experience of the university's environment before making their decision.
