- LIbrary is well equipped with management books, daily journals and a lot more.
Dislikes
- Weather is too hot as the campus located 10 km away from the sea because of that humidity is very high.
- Chennai city is very far from the college and frequency of cabs are very low because of that fare is very high.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the course PGDM as I had a keen interest in how finance works and operates in the real world. And PGDM syllabus is constantly updated to match the industry standards in that way we can be updated to changes. Coming to the student-faculty ratio, there are currently 340 students in this batch, and we have around nearly 25 professors and 20 junior faculty. so the ratio is 30 students:1 per teacher (approx) All the professors are Ph.D. degree holders and most of the subject's teaching is done in case study methodology which is followed in premium b- schools. I am still at the term 1 examination and from the mock tests conducted by the institute, it is easy to score well. And here we follow percentile-based scoring.
Internships Opportunities
Students in Summer internships were 100% placed with 64 companies coming to recruit majorly dominated by sales & marketing companies followed by BFSI companies. The average stipend for an entire internship is rs 87000 and the highest stipend of Rs 4,25,000.
Placement Experience
Summer internship recruitment starts in the month of September beginning that's during term 1. Coming to the final placements starts in September end and gets finished by January. Great Lakes Chennai has a track record of 100% placements. Major companies like Bain, Mckinsey, Jp morgan chase, BNY Mellon, etc visit our campus for placements. Students are majorly placed in finance, marketing, and analytics roles. The highest and average package of last year's PGDM was 46 LPA and 14.5 LPA. We have a vast network of alumni across the world who can help you after the placement to get better ahead of yourself.
Fees and Financial Aid
The current fee for PGDM is 19,95,000 for the entire 2 years and from what I heard from my seniors last year fees were around 18.75 lakhs, in comparison the fees have increased by nearly 1.2 lakhs. There are no scholarships for PGDM students, but we do have cash prize money at the end of two terms for the top 10 best students in a batch. Regarding financial assistance, the college had provided a list of banks they had tied up to, and it's a very hassle process to get a loan as it is collateral-free. There are no on-campus jobs in Great Lakes Chennai.
Campus Life
Great Lakes Chennai campus is really good as it is a 32-acre green campus filled with all amenities such as a gym, badminton ground, cricket ground, 24/7 open library which has all types of books required for management students, daily newspapers and few fictional books. There are many events conducted by events-comm such as Malang which is the major fest in our college. All Classrooms are air-conditioned and well-equipped with good infrastructure. We do have outdoor sports competitions in cricket, basketball, badminton, and football. And also indoor games such as table tennis, carrom, etc. All the committees such as the fincomm, events come, analytics committee, etc are run by students guided by faculty members. And there is a prestigious club called Dean's leadership club where very few students are selected. And there is a CWA club established newly this year for helping women with career breaks and gap years.
Admission
To be eligible for PGDM, you need to have a minimum of 60% in 10th, 12th, and undergraduate. I had taken xat 2023 for the admission process. Cut off of great lakes chennai for xat/cat was around 85%. All the application form and their fees are mentioned on the Glim Chennai website. As per my knowledge, there are no reservation benefits here. The only improvement in the admission process is to provide a waitlist number to students instead of a common waitlist pool.
