Course Curriculum Overview
I chose B.Tech CS because I was interested in the course structure and the availability of jobs in the area. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:2, which is pretty good as there are enough teachers for each student. Most of the faculty members are well qualified ranging from graduates of IITs and foreign universities and are well aware of the subject and can teach it pretty well. Most of the professors prefer ppt-based learning and they provide us with ppts, which makes it easier to study the whole syllabus during the exams. Mid-terms will take place 2-3 months after the start of the term and Finals take place after 5 months from the start of the term. The exams are easy but require good knowledge of the subject.
Internships Opportunities
Many reputed companies visited our campus. Some of the companies were AWS, Blueprism, UI Path, Celonis, Palo Alto, etc. I worked on many projects related to web development, AWS, data science, etc. We were assigned a project each semester and were required to complete it within a given deadline. One of the projects that I worked on was related to data analysis. I was responsible for collecting data from various sources and analyzing it.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from the 4th year. The following companies visited our university for campus placements, some of them being TCS, IBM, Capgemini, Hyundai, Wipro, Amazon, Kotak, and HCL. The highest package offered was 48 LPA and the average package was 5.2 LPA. The profiles offered by these companies varied from software engineers to business analysts. Around 80-85% of students were placed. I am planning to pursue higher studies in CSE.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee for the course is Rs.260000/- year. However, I got a scholarship of 10% due to my JEE mains result. This brought down the final tuition fee excluding the hostel and mess to Rs.234000/ year. During my stay, there was only once a fee hike of about 10% occurred during the last year. For financial assistance, merit students from low-income families are provided with Means Scholarship for upto 20 Students. Internships are difficult to obtain but colleges have some partnerships with many government organizations. During my 3rd year, I got an opportunity to work as an intern with the AP government and received a stipend of Rs.20000.
Campus Life
Our university hosts two major events every year, the annual fest called Mohotsav and the tech fest called Srujanankura. Mohotsav is held in February and is one of the best fest in our university while Srujanankura takes place in March-April. Regarding the availability of books & journals in the library, I can tell you that the library is good with a sufficient amount of books. It is very useful during exam times. The amenities in classrooms are pretty good but require improvement. The classrooms are not equipped with ACs but do have a projector. There are many clubs maintained by students and could be joined based on someone's interests. There is a sports club, music club, dance club, etc. These clubs are really helpful for students to pursue their interests.
Hostel Facilities
I stayed in the hostel during my time at the university. The hostel provides both AC and non-AC rooms with a price difference. The basic amenities were provided in the room, including a table, fan, chair, and bed. The food quality in the mess is average and could be bad sometimes but overall it was okay. We also have canteens which are generally good. The registration process for the hostel is generally done during the form filling for admission and the rooms were overpriced but basic amenities were provided in the room.
Admission
I got admission for a B.Tech CS course. The eligibility of the course is based on a first come first serve basis. The application form can be found on their official website and it costs Rs. 2500. You have to fill and submit the form along with payment proof to their institute address via post. I did not avail of any reservation benefits, but they do have some quota for SC/ST/OBC candidates. They also have a scholarship based on exam results. I got a 10% scholarship due to my Mains percentile being 78.8%. The admission process was easy, but I hope they will make it more online in the future. It would be more convenient and faster if they could accept online payment and verification of documents.
