Life at RG Kar Medical College

MBBS is a dream course for people to become doctors. The student-faculty ratio is very good. Faculty are ranging from average to very good. Every department has enough faculty members. All faculty are professors, associate professors, or demonstrators. They are all postgraduate students or have completed specialisation training in their respective subjects. Term exams are timely. Part-completion exams and semester exams are held regularly. Semesters are done twice per year. The university exam is once a year. Exams are fairly good. People can pass if they study properly.

The internship is for 1 year after 4.5 years of MBBS study. Rotatory internship in all 19 departments. 6 months of surgical and 6 months of medical branches. A heavy patient load provides ample learning opportunities. A logbook is maintained for every person undergoing an internship. Stipend is according to WBUHS, approx 28000/- per month currently.

Admission fees are taken during counselling and admission to college. In case of transfer from one college to another during an upgrade in the second or third round of counselling. 4500/- inr fees per semester. Internship of 1 year after 4.5 years of studying. Stipend given according to West Bengal University of health sciences. The current stipend is 28000/- approx.

Social life is Very good. Annual cultural fest Lobelia is the biggest medical fest in eastern India, during September. Annual academic medical fest Therapeuo is one of the best medical academic fests every year held in August. Books and journals are available in huge numbers and volumes in the college library. Classrooms are furnished with AC and have a capacity of 300 people. They also have mics, projectors and computer screens. Sports and extracurricular activities are highly encouraged and multiple tournaments are held throughout the year. Many social groups and clubs are there, run by students. Pages are all made on Facebook and Instagram. Fashion society - Stylometer. theatrical society - aalap. Debate, quizzing society etc., all are very active.

The hostel is very good. Each room has 4 people living together. Enough space is there to live comfortably. Meals and menus are changed every day. Multiple messes are available. Many college canteens are also there, that open by 6 am and close by 10 pm. SRCS food project by Govt of WB has a 24-hour canteen that is open throughout and serves great food. The registration process includes filling in a form and submission to the student's section. The allotment is done on the basis of distance from college. Many PGs are also available nearby.
