Course Curriculum Overview
It was always a dream to pursue an MBBS. RG Kar Medical College being one of the top colleges in Kolkata is of course top in terms of studies. The faculties here are one of the best I have ever seen. They are supportive and solves our doubt. We can ask them whenever needed without any hesitation. This really helps a lot as the mbbs university exams are tough and faculty support really matters which we definitely get here.
Internships Opportunities
There is one one-year compulsory rotating internship which pays a fairly decent stipend of Rs 30000 per month. During the internship, one has to visit Aamdanga and Baghbazar for their postings. Also, departments of the college provide postings in different departments. During an internship, one can learn a lot and gain a lot of experience which will be very helpful for future professions.
Fees and Financial Aid
R G Kar Medical College being a government medical college its fees are really low to one's expectations. We have to pay Rs 4500 per semester. Scholarships are also availed by certain students on the basis of merit. There is a compulsory one-year rotating internship which provides a stipend of nearly Rs 30000 per month.
Campus Life
Campus life is really exciting, be it in terms of studies or social activities. RG Kar Medical College organizes one of the biggest festivals of East India LOBELIA. It also organizes THERAPEUO the annual manifest which is also one of the most renowned and highly demanding amongst medical students. Not only fests it also organizes events related to extracurricular activities like sports, music, dance, and many more. If you are a bookworm then the library is for you. It has nearly all the books a medical student needs, starting from Grey's Anatomy to Harrison.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are also great. The hostel has a room of 4 people with a 24/7 supply of water and electricity which is the best part. We don't have to worry about those in the hostel. The meals are provided by the mess which is also fairly decent and cheap.
Admission
The admission was through the NEET entrance examination. There was a state quota counseling through which I acquired admission to my college. The complete procedure of admission was online through the WBMCC website. Through this, I was allotted rg Kar Medical College. Being one of the top colleges of Kolkata the cutoff of RG Kar Medical College was high. The admission procedure in my college was very well managed and smooth and I hardly had to face any difficulties.
