What Students Say
Likes
- I loved the freedom IIT provides. There are no restrictions on roaming the campus at night or chilling at any place.
- I love that there are no bounds here and you can explore anything you want to with focus on academics as well your own mojo.
- Startups, innovation and research are highly encouraged here.
Dislikes
- I didn't like how it only focuses on academics, after your degree it should provide ways to explore other fields as well. For eg, if someone wants to be a singer after this.
- I didn't like the strictness of guards here.
- I don't get the feel here to do anything you want to, especially apart from academics related fields.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is obviously very tough and hectic but you have to manage it here. Everything can be managed here given that you be in a process and study a little bit everyday. Enjoyment is unmatched here, we can roam around freely in the middle of the night, avail campus benefits 24x7, take part in fun events all the time. I chose this course because I am a little bit inclined towards building things and making an idea come to life. Faculty to student ratio is really good here, better than I imagined. Faculty are highly qualified and intelligent, many of them being PhD holders in their fields and many have won Padma awards for their contribution to their fields. Term exams started just after the first month, and they were of a good level. The thing is you just can't leave studying once you enter. A little bit progress everyday will add exponentially.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are good here but you have to maintain a certain CG here. Many companies come here, even core companies come here for students who want to go in core fields. I have not yet reached the internship stage so can't provide much info.
Placement Experience
After semester 6, placements take place. Many students get early jobs through internships. The placements are really good but you have to work for it. Top companies like Google, Microsoft etc. come here. Average package is around 23 LPA and highest package can go upto 4 crores.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees is highly reasonable here. Being a government college, fees is not a problem. Moreover, scholarships are abundant here for every category and group. The placement record is fantastic here and many of the top recruiter companies visit campus.
Campus Life
The life other than academics here is just indescribable!! IITD has several boards under which clubs function. There are several clubs, dance club, music club, Hindi samiti, literary club, robotics club, infinite hyperloop, areomodelling, debating, coding, quizzing etc. You name it! The cultural fest of IITD is the second largest cultural fest in Asia - "RENDEZVOUS!!", where top dignitaries and celebrities perform and we experience a lifetime of fun in those 4 days. It is usually in the month of October. Our library functions all days from 8am morning to 3 am in the night. During exams, it is 24x7. The library has books on every topic and there's no doubt that knowledge is more than abundant in our central library. Sports and extra- curriculars dominate here, several events keep taking place all the time, the Inter IIT is the sports biggest event in which athletes from all IITs compete.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel unity is very strong but the rooms are a little small. Meal quality is unexpectedly good and the food is actually good. Our mess provides nutritious as well tasty food and includes small snacks, drinks and deserts from time to time. Registration process for hostels is done through JoSAA only.
Admission
The admission process was really smooth and efficient. The application forms can be found on the official website of JEE Advanced and registration and admission takes place through JoSAA. I was eligible for mechanical engineering at IIT Delhi because of my rank in JEE Advanced. The cut off for this year was 86/360.
