Course Curriculum Overview
I am currently pursuing Electrical Engineering at IIT DELHI. We have the best faculty available, only one loophole is the professors are very well educated but when it comes to explaining the same to the students they lack there. In many courses, the faculty-student ratio is very good whereas in some it is very bad. For example, in the first year, we had a course named COL100 which had around 300 students and 1 professor. As we progress to senior year this ratio improves and is 30:1 In a single semester, 2 examinations are held. Minor and Major. Apart from these many quizzes, lab exams, etc. are held in order to evaluate the students. Minor and Major are really hectic as 6 exams or so are held back to back without any break in between.
Internships Opportunities
I am currently in 2nd year and haven't done an internship yet. All the facts stated are from the senior's experiences. All they have told me is what I have mentioned. overall internships are a very good way to expose students to real-world work.
Placement Experience
We can avail of campus placements from the 4th year and internships from the 2nd year. There is a body OCS (office of Career Services) that helps students in their internship and job-related affairs. The overall procedure is very smooth. IITs are known for their placement opportunities. The average package is 16 lac per annum and the highest can go up to 3cr per annum.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees have remained constant, 1.17 lac per semester. For students belonging to a financially weak background, there is a 67% relaxation in fees. The opportunities for scholarships are endless. There are scholarships based on your performance, Jee advanced rank, Branch specific, Sports, and whatnot. It is very easy to avail of a scholarship, there is an official page that manages all the grants and scholarships available to students.
Campus Life
The annual fest of IIT Delhi is Rendezvous. It is held every year in October. It is the largest fest in northern India. Around 2cr are spent on the organization of the event The tech fest of IIT Delhi is known as Tryst and it is held every year in March We have one of the best libraries with more than 2 lac books. Centralized AC. Campus life is very happening there are many events being conducted by different organizations and clubs. we have dance, dramatics, Debating, Literature, FashionSoc, Hindi Samiti, Dev club, Spic macay, Music, FAC, Pfc, design, ANC, etc.
Admission
The admission for different courses was rank-dependent. Admission to IITs is based on JEE advanced rank. So after the result was declared Josaa counselling was carried on. In the counseling, we were asked to fill in course choices and then on a merit basis, we were allotted colleges and courses from our own preference order. Once we were allotted the college and branch college specific admission procedures began. The application form and all other details can be found at www.josaa.nic.in
