What no one tells u about B.Sc MLT in IGMC

IGMC is incredible. The people are so friendly and collaborative and this college gives you an automatic support system and built-in friends/family

There is a common state HP paramedical entrance test for the various disciplines in paramedical sciences (medical lab technology, radio imaging and radio diagnosis, anaesthesia and ot technology, dialysis) for the government medical colleges of the state i, e IGMC Shimla and Dr RPGMC Tanda . Seats are limited ; only 20 seats in each discipline in both medical colleges. Choice of college and stream is purely based on the rank obtained in entrance test. Test is of 100 marks and there is no negative marking I got rank 5 ; marks 74 in my time and choose medical lab technology

The course medical lab technology comprises of the following subjects : Hematology Histopathology Microbiology Biochemistry Environmental sciences there is nighter M.Sc /MD/PhD is going in biochemistry in our college so there is no research work currently in the department . But research work is going in pathology and microbiology departments

No stipend is provided to the B.Sc students but thank god we don't have to go any extra internship because we have duties rotation in every lab in the three years

There is no placement cell or any other placement system in our college for the placement of B. Sc students. But you have a degree and can try yourself for jobs by cracking the written test conducted by PGIMER Chandigarh and other government bodies ( most of our seniors are working in PGIMER Chandigarh). Otherwise, you can work with private companies like Dr lal path labs and SRL diagnostics etc........

the events which are celebrated in college : Stimulus - medicos stimulus is celebrated throughout a week. various activities are there in the fest like ramp show, poetry, dance, games, skits and above all-star night ; students from various medical colleges and nearby colleges are invited .... Infusion - paramedicos This the annual function of para medicos ; various performances are there like skit, dance, song performances etc....students from various medical colleges and nearby colleges are invited

fees structure for B.Sc students : 1st year - 12000 + 1000(library security) 2nd year - 12000 3rd year - 12000 total - 37000 library security is refundable at the end of the course and there is no hostel facility available for B.Sc students. You have to take pg rooms which are quite expensive in Shimla.

There is no scholarship facility is available for B.Sc students. Nighter any kind of loan is offered by the college. you have to apply for the loan yourself in bank

The Gender ratio is almost same sometimes more boys sometimes more girls but although almost same i do not live in the hostel so I don't know about hostel parties and there is great tolerance with regard to gender and every religion students visit there because there is no discrimination

There is no hostel facility available for B.Sc paramedical students. students of B.Sc have to take the pg or rooms which are quite expensive in Shimla. usually in Shimla, they charge Rs 5000 - 12000 from the students with food and Rs 3000 - 3500 for a single room per month

Seniors are very supportive and are always ready to help out juniors. Seniors help a lot in laboratory's in performing tests and guide the juniors

Duties of students in labs are daily after theory and practical classes. You can't bunk a single day in a year especially if you are the students of it and radio diagnosis.There is also a cafeteria run by HP tourism department where you can have your snacks or food in a lunch break. There is no semester system exams are held annually.

once you got the rank there is a counselling system for the scrutiny of documents and allotment of streams and college . After that you have to complete some formalities like medical examination etc and a call letter is issued to you and then you can join on the date of joining the college

Faculty of the college is good, teachers are very supportive. Rules are stringent regarding attendance and students need to comply with the same and have to maintain at least 75% attendance. A window of 10 minutes late arrival is acceptable for a lecture after which entry is not granted to students.
