Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

B.Sc Community Science, previously known as B.Sc Home Science, is a 4-year undergraduate program. The course includes 1 year of specialization in a chosen department. I chose this program due to my interest in Food Science and Nutrition. 5 different departments are focusing on community development and rural societies. The departments cover areas like food science, textile and apparel designing, extension education, consumer sciences and management, and human development and family studies. The program has over 15 professors and more than 250 students. Each professor holds a Ph.D. and has over 10 years of teaching experience. Assessments include 2 pre-final exams and 1 final exam in each semester. Pre-finals are mid-term exams, and the final exam is an end-term exam, both of average difficulty. Despite competent professors, there is a shortage of faculty in the program.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college provides interships to final year students as a part of student student-ready program. Companies come from all over the India. Some companies are Nestle, Parle, Lancer, Mother Dairy, etc. Stipends vary according to the work ranging from 3000-10000 per month. Projects include management, data analysis, manufacturing processes, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

In the first, second, and third semesters, the B.Sc program fees were around 40,000 rupees per semester. From the fourth semester onwards, the fees increased to nearly 45,000 rupees per semester. The Tuition fees account for about 16,000 rupees, and the rest covers hostel fees. University faculty and employees' children receive a fellowship, reducing their fees. Various scholarships are offered based on reservation quota, income criteria, etc. Scholarships are available for Master's and PhD students through JRF and ICAR exams. Detailed scholarship information and eligibility criteria can be found on the University website www.gbpuat.ac.in.

Campus Life

3.5

The university offers a wide range of extracurricular activities and events, including sports and national-level competitions. Athletic meets and sports events are held twice a year, featuring sports like cricket, football, volleyball, races, basketball, tennis, kabaddi, and more. Orientation and fresher parties are organized for first-year students to welcome them. Student-run societies like College societies, Chetna, SPIC MACAY, etc., enhance the extracurricular experience. The campus boasts one of Asia's largest agriculture libraries, and classrooms are equipped with smart boards for digital education. The campus is spacious, well-organized, and easy to navigate, with proper roads and infrastructure, creating an enjoyable campus life experience.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The university offers 22 well-equipped hostels with comfortable furnishings and amenities. In the first year, three students share a spacious single room, while in the second year, two students share a room. Each room is furnished with beds, almirah, a study table, and chairs for the residents. There is a cafeteria system providing four meals a day, although food quality varies across hostels. Hostel fees amount to approximately 22,000 rupees per semester. Hostel allocation is done during the admission process, and considering the facilities provided, many find the fees justified.

Admission

GBPUAT Pantnagar conducts its entrance exam annually in May-June. The exam uses a cutoff system, and the number of available seats determines the cutoff. Information about application forms and exam dates is available on the official website www.gbpuat.ac.in. Various B.Sc courses have different eligibility criteria, but generally, a 12th pass is required. -The ICAR exam can also provide entrance to the university. - The website provides details about reservation benefits and other specifics for each course. The admission process, including document verification, takes 1-3 days. There are 3 counseling rounds, and additional spot counseling might happen based on seat availability. All necessary information is communicated through notices on the university website.

One of my relative told me that this course have large scope, and bright future so my brother applied for this course and i did this course and now i realised that it is good but they do not provide placement we only rely on our own. I think college should conduct sessional exam on time and the external exam should be conducted in 6th month. Exam are not much difficult.. they are moderate level.

The course curriculum at MBPG college covers all the core science subjects with basic practicals but you need to have extra skills if you want to learn more. Also the curriculum is bit theoretical and but practical too.

I can name some companies with whom our college does have made tie-ups but since none has been placed as we will be the first one to be placed, it would be inappropriate to answer this question. Still, ISRO to DRDO are the organisations for which our course is Inclined.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is quite good and easy to understand. Among all the subjects, I like Chemistry the most, and topics related to transition elements are my strong area. This subject increased my interest in the course and helped me understand concepts more clearly. I chose this course because I want to make my career in the teaching field, and the syllabus provides a decent theoretical base for that. However, this course is not very helpful in terms of jobs, internships, or skill development, as there are limited job opportunities after completion. There is scope for improvement in teaching methods, such as more interactive and practical-based learning. Exams are conducted twice a year on a semester basis, every six months. The exam pattern is manageable, and the difficulty level of the papers is moderate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I have seen students who have studied from here have achieved many things in life some of them became professors here. Some are doing work abroad. According to me something there should be a change like having more practicals if you have taken subjects like IT, cs,bca or any other practical subjects book knowledge is also compulsory but by doing practicals we can learn more easily. Exams are normal for 1st year but as you are going higher difficulties will come.
