Remarks
The college management is bit slow in work but one cannot expect 100% out of anywhere or any person. I'd say MSIT is good choice dor doing B.TECH. if the student wants to focus majorly in academics.
Entrance Preview
I gave 3 exams last year namely JEE Mains,BITSAT and IPUCET. Unfortunately, I did not qualify in neither JEE MAINS nor BITSAT. So IPUCET was my last and only bet was IPUCET. I got a rank of 7146 and got MSIT in spot round of counseling. It's considered third best college in IPU and I guess it is the best I could get with such a rank.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course, i.e., ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION is a core branch of B.TECH. The subjects of the first year are common to all branches so there is no particular emphasis on research and depth on any topic. Second year onwards the core subjects come into the curriculum and it gets vision gets narrowed down to deep electronics and communication. It is a very beneficial course in today's world as electronics is never going to get old fashioned any time soon. So getting a job after completing this course does not seem too tough.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, I've heard our college provides internships. There are many internship fares that held at the different time of the years throughout the academic session. I did attend quite a few fares and got to know that there are many companies, the majority of them being startups that are interested to hire the students from our college in various fields. The stipend depends totally on the caliber of students.
Placement Experience
The placement and job opportunities at MSIT is very much like any other private institution. Majority of the students that get placed are from computer science or information technology branch. The average package is 3.5-4 Lakhs. However, a good number of students also get placed in decent packages, i.e, 9-10 Lakhs. Companies like Infosys, Accenture, Sigma visit the campus every year. In 2016, even Microsoft visited and hired students at 12Lpa. Other sutdents from core branches do sit for campus jobs but it is seen that their off-campus placements are way better. They get packages as high as 18Lpa.
College Events
The main fest that happens at MSIT is the genesis, avenesis and enva. Even though these are the only large scale fests happening, they are not so good. There are very lame and small contests that happen and there is no main attraction. The college does not fund any cultural society so sudents contribute and make the fest possible based on their contribution.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure at MSIT is quite feasit I'd say. Fees for one semester is 75000/- which i think is reasonable because college provides lab facilities and the curriculum books that covers the fee structure. The on-campus hostel accommodation coste 51000/- for 10 months excluding the mess charges. Further the mess charges 3000/- per month.
Fees and Financial Aid
No. I don't know about any loan facility provided by Maharaja surajmal institute of technology nor I've heard about it from anyone else.
Campus Life
The gender ratio as expected is that majority are boys. The campus is fully ragging-free. There js no discrimination howsoever between the students. Senior-junior relationship is quite good. Cultural activities are not so encouraged at MSIT. The focus is more towards academics.
Hostel Facilities
The on-campus hostel facilities aren't too good. There is no air-conditioning provided so gets difficult in summers. But, seeing the charges it is quite reasonable. All the rooms are two-seaters. There is a common bathroom on each floor which consists of 3 toilets and 3 bathing booths. The mess food is surprisingly better than most of the messes in other colleges. The menu is refreshed every month with regard to recommendations of the student themselves. Excluding two or three dishes, the food is good.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes. Some of the senior students are very helpful. When I first joined MSIT, many of the seniors approached me themselves and told me about the whereabouts and the real deal about the institution which helped me quite a lot during my first few days. The alumni is also helpful. The ones who were earlier part of the societies help to fund them too since our college doesn't which is very kind of them.
Exam Structure
The exams are held quite frequently at MSIT. One semester comprises of a series of tests known as Sessionals that are of 30 marks and are marked for internal assessment. The external theory paper is of 75 marks. The practical knowledge is also assessed by internal and external practical exams. Sometimes if the syllabus is completed before hand, second sessionals also take place.
Admission
The notification to fill forms for Btech. in IPU gets released 3-4 months prior to the exam. I filled the form in January and the exam was held on 20th May 2017. There was no negative marking in exam. The result got delayed a lot and came out finally in post mid-july. The admission counseling was then done very quickly, within 2 weeks the spot round was also done.
Faculty
The faculty at Maharaja surajmal institute of technology is quite experienced and trained. Even the first year students are taught by the oldest and wisest faculty members. The new faculty is also very nice. Of course, my opinions may conflict others because the faculty of my batch is good but there may be exceptions always. But if you ask, the majority of the students will rate the faculty at MSIT 8/10.
