Remarks
I really don't have anything bad but as an improvement, the college can add some more experienced faculty members. HBTI has been a great college and i owe to this college for whatever I am today.
Entrance Preview
UPSEAT, Rank-27. I chose HBTI over other colleges because of the quality education and reputation of the college. Its one of the oldest Engg. colleges in India and has been providing quality education since 1921. The college offer courses for some of the rare industry streams such as Oil and Paint tech Food Tech, Chemical Engg, Leather Technologies etc. This college offers about 15 different courses for these streams.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum for MCA was quite comprehensive and covered almost every aspects of Computer Science and application such as Programming Languages, Networking Concepts, Algorithms, Mathematics, Logic, Distributed systems etc. These subjects were focused to give a complete overview of computer and its application and also helped one to equip himself of the technical knowledge to remain competitive and industry ready. Faculty of HBTI was very experienced in the respective subjects and some of the members were highly dedicated whom we remember till date. The faculty in undoubtedly is one of the best in UP.
Internships Opportunities
During 2003 when i passed out, it was an year of early revival of dotcom bust and not too many companies had come to campus. Few companies which i remember till date who visited campus are Nagarro S/W, Newgen technologies and CSC. These companies handpicked just few student(only 8-10) in total. Personally i was not chosen in any of these companies and I did an internship later in a Delhi based company for free as during that time IT was not a high paying career due the recent recession.
Placement Experience
Placements and Job opportunities are in plenty for HBTI students as almost many major companies such as IBM, Infosys, Wipro etc are regular visitor in HBTI. For us internship and placement was no different and as mentioned in above question in 2003 just 4 companies came for placement for IT.
College Events
I don't remember too many right now as it's an old thing. I remember few major festivals for technical competition, few cultural programes on major festivals. They were quite big given the number of students studying in HBTI.
Fees and Financial Aid
As this was a govt college, the fee was not much and also all the scholarships were as per govt norms.
Campus Life
Campus life in HBTI was very memorable and i made few friends for life time whom i am still in touch and they are like my family friends. We cherish the every moment of that time whenever we meet over a mug of beer. HBTI being a govt college, attracts students from all strata of society and we used to see a great mix of genders and religions. Being an engg. college, there was not much room for politics etc however we used to have many cultural events organised by the student themselves.
Hostel Facilities
Being a Govt college, hostels is an area of concern probably because HBTI hostels were just OK. the basic problems were lack of cleanliness and proper sanitation. A good mess is always a desirable thing. It had variety of options from triple sharing till
Alumni/Alumna
Senior students were quite supportive and i am in touch with some of them till date. Alumni group is really so active however recently some efforts and steps have been taken to make the alumni more connected.
