Remarks
The college offers a good platform for technical studies. The placement rate, college tie-ups, and campus life are good. The faculty is mostly youth and is ready to help students. Overall a good college for studying B.Tech
Entrance Preview
I took UPSEE 2011 and AIEEE 2011 (Now known as IIT JEE Main) exam. I scored 172 in UPSEE 2011 and just qualified the AIEEE 2011. I opted for this college because it was ranked among Top 3 Engineering college of UPTU (Now AKTU) in the Delhi-NCR region. Apart from that, the college was having a rich experience of 11 years (in 2011) in imparting engineering education. Good placement rate was also a reason to opt for this college. Apart from that some of my seniors also gave positive inputs about the college. Another reason was the proximity of the college from the place of my residence
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is good in terms of technical exposure. The syllabus is prescribed and revised by AKTU, Lucknow and is ensured to be in consonance with the standards of Engineering level curriculum at the national level. The syllabus and subject matter is reviewed on a timely basis by the University to incorporate the new changes.
Internships Opportunities
College as such doesn't provide the internship. They allow any company or training institute to provide internship to candidates in the college campus.Candidates have to enroll for the said internship (if they want) by paying the said amount as a fee. No, the stipend would not be paid. Classes for internship program are held during the summer breaks and include both practical and theoretical exposure.
Placement Experience
Placement rate is good. Comapnies like TCS, Sopra, NIIT etc come for hiring students during the fourth year of their acdemic program. However, most of the comapnies coming to recruit B.Tech candidates are Computer/Software development based companies and not many conmpanies related to the other branches of engineering visit the college. Studnets however, can secure placement in the area of their studies or in any good company by putting in their own effort and attending off-campus placement events.
College Events
The college hosts a number of cultural and technical events like the Annual day, Sports meet, Coding competition, Online gaming competition, debate competition, dance competition. Apart from that special seminars and performances by renowend personalities are also conducted.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is moderately high as the yearly fee for B.Tech course touches One Lac rupees (at my time it was around 95,000 to 98,000). However, education loan facility can be availed by the students. One needs to get the document for educattion loan signed by the college authoriteis to be submitted to the bank for disposal of loan.
Fees and Financial Aid
A scholarship is not offered as such however, loan facility is available for students who want to take an education loan for the purpose of admission.
Campus Life
Campus life is good. The gender ratio is around 60:40. The college has a big stadium for outdoor games like cricket, football, athletics etc. Various clubs are also there for students. Labs have good infrastructure. There are two canteens in the college premises (earlier there were three at a time). The temple at the entrance of the college is a good place for getting some peace and divinity.
Hostel Facilities
Since I didn't stay in the hostel I can't elaborate much about hostel and mess facilities. However, as per the input form, my friends who stayed in the hostel the food quality is good and the menu for the month is set by hoteliers. The timings for Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner are fixed and you would hardly get anything if you missed the slot.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are helpful and provide you with a good guide in regards to academic and placement activities. The alumni network of the college is strong and a separate department manages the alumni network.
Exam Structure
Examinations are held twice in a year as per semester wise system of course orientation. In total 8 semesters are there in a four-year duration of the course. Students can get enough time to prepare for semeter examination. Internal exams and unit test however, are a monthly affair.
Admission
I took admission based on my UPSEE score and class 12th PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) percentage. Admission was done under management quota that is the direct admission quota. Based on by UPSEE 2011 rank and PCM percentage I was called for an interview (I filled the application form for college in July by visiting its campus) in August 2011. Questions were asked about my hobbies, technical bend, and why I want to do Engineering in the said branch were asked. After the interview, I was asked to submit the relevant documents along with college fee to take admission in the course. Candidates who cleared the AIEEE 2011 securing good marks were given preference and those who opted for college through UPSEE 2011 counseling were given admission prior to review of my application. However, since not all seats are filled through counseling direct admissions are done each year. During the time when I took admission, the college expanded its intake of ECE and CS branch by 60 seats and this additional seats were put in direct quota and were not put under counseling criteria that year.
Faculty
The faculty is good and cooperative except the Head of Department and few senior professors. Most of the professors are newly M.Tech pass out or are pursuing their M.Tech. Professors have a good grasp of their subject and are ready to help students outside the prescribed lecture timings.
