Ankit Jain's Review On IIT Delhi - Indian Institute Of Technology [IITD], New Delhi

IIT Delhi is one of the best college in India, and every aspiring student dreams of coming into this esteemed place. The management is doing very well in maintaining its reputation as being pioneers in technology education.

IITJEE 2005. AIR 190 Opted for Electrical Engineering B.Tech as I wanted to be in Delhi and did not like the prospects of joining a 5 year integrated course.

After comparing the course contents with that of private colleges, I am proud to say that our curriculum though outdated, covered all topics in thorough depth.

I interned with an investment bank in Hong Kong. I got a very comfortable stipend (Rs. 3 lakhs per month) along with company provided accommodation and travel. Other companies which visited campus offered stipend in the range of 0 to 50000 per month.

100% placements for people who opted for placements. Students aspiring for higher studies also had job offers under their belts which they later refused. Salary in 2009 was an average of 10-12 lpa.

Rendezvous and Tryst are the cultural and technical festivals respectively. Both are very well renowned and have particiaption from almost 50+ colleges every year.

Very feasible fee structure. Ample Merit-cum-means scholarships for students from economically weaker sections. Students loans also very easily available without the need for any bank guarantee.

Mentioned above. Lots of Merit cum means schoalrships for students.Loans offered by all banks. SBI gives great scholar loans.

It was a great experience. Would love to live it again. Gender ratio though on the unfavorable side did not matter much. Awareness about your college in the outside world helps very much, when you tell them you are from IIT !!

Hostel facilities and mess food is all student managed. If you dont like something be sure to make a hue and cry about it to get it changed. Change comes from within.

Alumni is well spread out and in all industries. They are also very helpful in mentoring and guiding students / mentees. Alumni events have a huge participation and there are IITD alumni chapters in all major cities of the world.

Exam structure is broadly, 2 sets of minor exams and a major exam for every course in a semester.Students end up doing very well by spending time studying just before the D-day. Rest of the time is good for chilling.

Faculty was top class, and I had the experience of working with the top minds in the country.
