One of the best colleges in Bangalore

There may be few fault in the managemt while managing 30 acres of land and more than 15000 students but overal its a good college.

Karnataka CET 3800s Rank Chose Biotechnology which was my dream subject and this college in particular because of the best laboratory facilities which other colleges doesn't have.

The course structure back in 2012 was based on VTU syllabus which had so many repetition and less of laboratory that was also repeating, but now the college has become autonomous and as per my juniors and my personal knowledge they have super revised the syllabus and they removed all repetitive topics and included few subjects also and they have more emphasised on practicals.

College tries to bring in much association like GE healthcare etc., but there is no such company which regularly comes and pick up interns. But, due to good industrial exposure and tie-ups of the teachers of the department teachers will be getting an intern request from some industry or research institute. they will select the students and send them. Even if you managed to find one department will give complete support. I got an internship opportunity in Velankani groups and my stipend was 20000k per month.

Placement in college for Biotech students in life science field is very less, however biotech students are allowed to sit in placement drives of Infosys, Cognizant, MuSigma, accenture Universal health care. the average offer was around 4.5 lakhs. I was selected in Accenture and cognizant but i was not interested in IT companies then I joined the company where I did my Internship and I'm getting almost or slightly higher pay than my friends. Half of my friends were taken by IT companies and rest half are abroad doing there masters.

We have an amazing fest called THE FURORE, which will be a 3 day event which is common for all the department and all allied subjects. few departments have there independant Branch fest like Mechanical department have "THE SANTHE" electrical have "THE BLAST" etc but biotech department doesnt have department fest but we do organize Science Day, Food Day and Water Day were other departments also participate and juniors will give superb farewell to you in 4th year.

CET fees is very feasible its around 50K per year. COMEDK or other state engineering entrance fees is comparitively higher thats around 150000 to 200000 and management quota fees is around 200000 to 2.5 lakh with donation amount varies from 2 lakh to 5 lakh based on your rank and gap in studies and nationality. Every semester there will exam fees thats around 1000.

No scholorship or loan facilitity is been poffered directly from college. But there will be stalls put up by various banks during admissions who will assist you to get Education loan. College has one Vijayay bank through whic all transaction happens ( Admission fees, exam fees, Hostel fees fines everything)

Campus is suituated in Shavige Malleshwara Hills it has a good climate and sometimes feels like you are in ooty full of greenary and hill at the center and a temple, best auditorium in bangalore, good amphitheatre. Gender ratio is almost equal. We have a very good football ground and tennis court and a GYM.

Its a good residential college, lot of foreigners study there. It has Normal Indian hostel, Deluxe hostel and special NRI hostel fee is about 85k for Indian hostel (usually 4 to 6 sharing) with food/year and 1.25 lakh for deluxe hostel ( 2 or 3 sharing) and 2 to 2.5 lakh for NRI hostel which is fully AC and single or double sharing. Food quality is very good both in hostel and canteen. Breakfast, Lunch snacks and Dinner.

College has very good contact with alumini they conduct annual alumini meet which is common for all department and even department wise they invite alumini and they will deliver speach on specific topics or about abroad education and future possibilities and its scope.

As per biotech department is concerned we had the confident that we will atleast pass, our worry was only to score higher grade not to pass. But practicals would be hectic coz no one can predict what will happen, even the highest scorer in department will be so tensed and VIVA as usual teachers will show all there hidden knowledge that we will know only on that day. We can learn more new things that day. Relatively scoring in external is easy than scoring in internals coz of the strict teachers.

Karnataka CET process as usual, since my ranking was good there were no much competition or hurdles for me getting into this college. Back in 2012 the minimum and maximum rank which could get into this college for this course were between 3500 and 25000.

As per biotechnology department is concerned the minimum qualification will be M.tech and at least enrolled for PhD. They will be having a good subject and research knowledge and plenty of paper publication. Laboratories will be handled by subject experts ( One pursuing or pursued PhD in that field) But as the department is concerned teachers are little strict compared to any other department in DSI.
