Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

NIT Jamshedpur is famous for its metallurgy branch. it is the oldest and first metallurgy branch to open in India. I chose this course because of its 100% placement in the MME branch. Faculties are highly qualified and experienced. Some professors are new but they teach very well. some teachers are also strict and some are friendly too. One of our mechanics professor plays volleyball and badminton with us and also organize fun events along with studies to engage students. In each semester mid-sem exams and end-sem are held, they are not that tough but you need to study almost 1 week before the exam to score a good grade. In the first year, you have to study a lot of subjects which is very time-consuming.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship opportunities are good here. you can crack internships when you are in 2nd year but this is very difficult but getting an internship in 3rd year it's easy you have to be above average. if you are thinking of enjoying your college life then it is good to some extent but you have to do hard work to get an internship and placement. But it will happen if you go ahead.

Placement Experience

4.5

NIT Jamshedpur is famous for its placement stats as it has 100 percent placement in the metallurgy branch. it has also a good placement record in core branches which most of the nits don't provide. placement culture is good here so in this college, you don't have to bother with placements. the average CSE package is 27 LPA and the overall average package is 16 LPA which gives high competition to top NITs. From third year students become eligible for placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Fee structure is the same as any other NIT college. It is 62500 for tuition fees, 15000 for hostel fees, and 17000 for mess fees per semester which will cost almost 8 to 9 lakhs to study in the college overall. You can also get a scholarship which can provide you with financial assistance. If you can't manage this much then a study loan is the best option for you. A lot of students take loans. In the 3rd year, you can find an internship to get some cash.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus Life is decent. it is made in 350 acres but you can say only 100 acres are in use. The hostels are in good condition. Diamond Jubilee Lecture Hall complex is the best you can get which is fully AC occupancy which most of the NITs even IITs don't provide. The central library has also a lot of books. you can find almost all books which are of your use. classrooms are clean but the auditorium is not available here so small functions are very difficult to manage here. Sports facilities are good you can go to inter-NIT competitions of you have capabilities. There are a lot of clubs and societies present here like Phocus for photography, beat breakers for dance, team room for music, Invicta for fashion designing and various quizzing, debating societies are present which you will enjoy a lot of you are inducted. so try to get inducted in at least one of them.

Hostel Facilities

4

in first year you will get 2 beds in a single room but only one table chair for two persons. but second year hostel is having a single capacity with balcony. so you will have personal space from second year. Mess facilities are also upto mark. you will not find any difficulties in mess. foods are good and are of better qualities especially for girls. if you are here then you must have to live in hostels provided. there are some restriction for almost 1 month in which you are not allowed to go outside hostel but after that everything is normal

Admission

The only process to get into this college is through jee main entrance exam. you need to qualify and score a minimum of 96 percentile in JEE Main. The application form: you can check the official website of NTA for the exact date and fees but mostly the exam is being conducted in two shifts January and April and the best score is your result. Reservation: if you are a sc/st candidate you will get a full remission on tuition fees and only have to pay mess and hostel fees. if your income is less than 1 lakh then you will also get 100%remission on tuition fees. And if your family's annual income is between 1 to 5 lakh then you will get a 2/3rd waiver on tuition fees.

Placement Experience:

From 7th sem onwards students are able to face placements. Comapnies such as ZS, Deloite AB in bev microsoft visa comes here and normally takes 1-3 students. The highest package may vary from 40-50 lakhs and average is 4-5 lakhs. Internships opportunities are quite low here. In chemical enginnering only till now out of 120 students 20-30 got placed including out of campus palcements. I am hoping to do mba after pursuing the degree as there is less comapny visit for core branches.
