Reasons to join- NIT JAMSHEDPUR

I chose this course as this was the best possible option I got at my college with my rank. My branch has a total strength of 114 students with around 12 teachers including labs. The faculty members are highly educated and most of them are from research backgrounds. The teaching method is still traditional though in which many changes need to be done. The rest of the things are quite good. The first midsems were in 2 months and the endsem would be after 2 months. It's easy to pass by just studying an hour daily.

At NIT, Jamshedpur we get summer internship opportunities in 3rd year. There were 458 6-month interns and 177 summer interns. The stipends vary based on the job roles from 10k to 50k. The information regarding paid summer internships is provided by the TAP before the summer break. The process of selection employed varies from organization to organization. This usually comprises written tests, group discussions and personal interviews.

The placements of the college are the key feature of this college. Not only in cse but the other core branches also get fabulous placements. Students become eligible for placement from 4th yr. Last year 250+ companies visited and 750+ offers were made. The highest CTC was 83 lpa and the average CTC was 15.98 lpa. 98.87% got placed according to the data. I also plan to secure a good job after completing my degree.

The fee structure for Btech is around 12 lakhs and some additional cost for the whole program. Recently there has been a hike in the fees. However, since IITs and NITs are government colleges they provide financial assistance to those with low family income. For example- students whose whole family income is less than 1lakh, get a full tuition fee waiver. Students with family income between 1 to 5 lakhs get a 2/3rd waiver. There are various private and government scholarships which are available based on merit. For example- ekalyan scholarship is a government scholarship for students studying in Jharkhand. Currently, I haven't got any campus jobs so I don't know much about it in detail.

The college life is quite awesome. There are many festivals conducted in this college. The three main fests are OJASS, CULFEST and URJA. 1. CULFEST- This is the annual cultural festival of NIT Jamshedpur. This fest deals with all the cultural events held in NIT JSR, which last 4-5 days and are held in February. 2. OJASS- This is the techno-management fest of NIT JAMSHEDPUR. It is among the top-notch techfest in the country. It is held in April. We have a large centralized library called the CENTRAL LIBRARY containing a wide variety of books, journals and magazines that we can issue and read. Our classrooms are well-equipped with ACs, digital smart boards and smart podiums. There are a variety of sports played here. eg- badminton, chess, volleyball, basketball, cricket and many more. We also go for Inter-NIT competitions. There are various clubs to boost the soft skills of the students for example- AAWAHN, PHOCUS, QUINITE, LDS, FACES, BEATBREAKERS, QUOD-INVICTA etc

We get a three sharing room. The room is equipped with a bed, table, chair, cupboard and LAN. We get 4meals a day. The quality of the food is satisfactory. We have different menu for each day. The cleanliness of the mess is not so good. The registration process of the hostel is being done by the college as we get in-campus hostels. The hostel fees is affordable.

I'm Pallavi Kumari, a 1st-year undergraduate pursuing Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. The admission process is quite easy. Students have to pass through two stages of the Joint Entrance Examination - mains and advanced. Through JEE MAINS students get admission to various NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Through JEE ADVANCED students get admission to 23 IITs across the country.
