What Students Say
Likes
- I like the crowd and social life of our college as students from different states with different talents and interests come and we get to to learn a lot from each other. l
- I like all the clubs ,activities, events and fests that take place in our college as they make us get the feel of real college life.
- I like the campus of our college , the departments are also well built specially my departments which is almost newly built.
Dislikes
- I don't like the internship and placements opportunities that are offered to core branch students and they really need improvement.
- I don't like the hostel and mess facilities of our college and there is also a need of an auditorium .
- The food and rates of college canteen are really amazing but there is an urgent need of improvement in its infrastructure.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I am a programmer and need time for self-study and we get the maximum free time in the chemical branch with minimum labs and classes, also it is not a very difficult subject. The faculty: student ratio is around 1:12 as there are around 5 faculties over 60 students depending on subjects which are around 5-6. Faculties are well qualified as everyone has done their Ph.D. or M.Tech from renowned colleges like IITs and IIMs. The teaching method is common for all teachers, they teach on a blackboard, give notes and PPTs, and teach through PPTs in class too but knowledge of the professors of the subject varies and so do their methods. Some have interesting and more understandable teaching standards whereas few may not.
Internships Opportunities
In my branch, only 4-5 companies have come on for on-campus internships till now and only 2 students have got internships with a stipend of 40,000 in a core company named UPL. The projects and role is not yet specified but it will be industrial only.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from 6-7 semesters depending on the branches. Placements are great at non-core branches CS and ECE where big MNCs like Adobe, Barclays, WellsFargo, JPMC, VISA, Mastercard, etc. visit, and this year till now almost 70 students out of 120 are placed in CS, this number is still less this year due to recession after covid and a little less in EC where highest package goes around 40 lakh CTC and an average of 18 lakhs CTC. My plans are to get an on-campus placement in a software company in SDE or SWE profile with a ctc of 8 lpa pr above.
Fees and Financial Aid
My Fees structure per year is: Tuition fees -Rs 1,35,000, Hostel Fees -Rs 62,000, Mess Fees -Rs 14000 So overall it is around 2 per year. Fee remission, Scholarships, and Financial assistance are only provided to students with reservations and those whose family income is less than 5lpa and not the general students. Placements are good at our college but not internship opportunities are not good in core branches like electrical, chemical, mechanical, and civil.
Campus Life
Campus life is I would say one of the best among all the NITs. We have different clubs, councils, and student chapters like AIChE, EES, etc. in the college. There are coding clubs like ACM and GDSC, CHRD is the club where interests like dance, drama, music, art, photography, etc are welcomed and enhanced. Literature club named LAC and Spic Macay for promoting cultural music, dance of India. There is a club named SAMVAAD which works on the social and mental well-being of students and NIRVANA in which college students tutor the poor and financially weak students at Setia Arutside College.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are not very good. Still, girls' hostel and mess are way better than for boys. As rooms are for 2 rooms we are provided 2 beds, 2 study tables and chairs,2 cupboards,2 small white-black boards,2 fans, and a balcony but washrooms are common. This is the situation of Sarabhai girl's hostel but it varies in Mother Teresa which has single occupancy rooms and is smaller with everything single but MTB is better than Sarabhai in all facts. Similar facilities for boys hostel but maintenance is poor there.
Admission
First, we need to take the JEE Mains entrance exam along with our 12th boards or right after the 12th class and if we qualify for the cut-off marks we can apply for NITs, IITs, and other government engineering colleges of India also get eligible to appear in JEE Advance, if one gets a good rank in Advance we can apply for some good IITs as well. Talking about my admission process I gave my JEE mains in the 12th class itself and in the first mains attempt the cutoff was around 88-90 percentile and I got around 95.51% in my first attempt and successfully qualified for jee advance as well, similarly, I gave the other 3 mains attempt and became eligible to apply to some decent NITs and IITs and UPTU colleges of India based upon my Mains rank. College counseling happened through JOSAA and special rounds through CSAB where we can find the application form, fees, and dates also on Google directly. Reservation benefits are provided to SCs, STs, OBCs, Females, and students of the same state as the colleges.
