- There are too many night-clubs outside the campus area.
- The weather is almost unpredictable since it rains suddenly even though it is a sunny day.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Computer Science and Engineering (with a minor in Data Science), as it has a higher scope of future job benefits. Moreover, I like being a data scientist. The faculty: student rate is the highest among all private colleges in India (higher than BITS Pilani). It is almost 1 person to 14 students. The faculty at MIT are highly qualified and have high experience. But, you will not be taught by senior professors often. Teaching methods are very good and also very flexible in schedule as the time period of breaks is long. There are many practical subjects with theory subjects. Term exams here are called Semesters. In a semester; we have an In-Semester and an End-Semester. The term exams are very difficult to pass, since PCM backgrounded students can't succeed in Biology subject exams. The term exams are based on Relative-Grading which is similar to system of JEE exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
Students studying in the CSE branch should pay 3,25,000 rupees in 1st year of B.Tech and should pay 5 lakh rupees in 2nd, the 3rd, and 4th years of their B.Tech. Opportunities for scholarships are very rare through this institution, as twenty to 20 to 30 students among 1500 get 20% aid in their per year course fee. The cost of living is moderate in Manipal. There is no financial assistance or campus jobs in this institution.
Campus Life
MIT Manipal has one of the best college life. Social life has a high probability. There are 100+ technical clubs and numerous non-technical clubs. MIT Manipal has a very good infrastructure. For students who like photography, MIT Manipal is the best place. The tech fest here is called TECH TATVA which is conducted in the month of October and the annual fest is called REVELS in every March of the year. We have a gorgeous library with lovable journals & books. Every classroom is air-conditioned and has a projector with speakers and also has a fire alarm with safeties. Almost every sport is being played by students. We also have highly affordable swimming pools and gyms all around the campus. Some of the clubs run by MIT students are IEEE-SBM, PDA, IE-Mechatronics, IESTE (for guidance to foreign students), etc.
Admission
Eligibility of any course in this college is through an entrance exam called the Manipal Entrance Test (MET). Based on the rank in MET, students can be eligible to choose their preferred branch. For example, MET ranked between 100-5000 gets 20% of aid per year course fee. There are no Reservation Benefits as it is a merit-based institution. The admission process contains rounds of 1 to 4 based on applications per year in MET. Primary rounds are for the higher course-seeking students. My suggestion is that the process should be quick since it is delayed for 2-3 days for every round.
