Great experience at great lakes

Overall i had a great time in great lakes. The faculty is good, the people coming there are intelligent and the facilities offered by the college is also good. However it is situated in a remote village near chennai so not so convenient to go out to the c

cat and xat scores are accepted. More focus is on the profile of the candidate. It is a one year course and good value for money. Interview process is not very strict if the profile is good.

Course curriculum is similar to other colleges. Different electives are available for people pursuing different majors. you can major in marketing,finance, systems or operations.

No internships are offered since it is a one year course. However there are certain unpaid internships that the students can pursue if they are interested. Most of such internships are either research based or case study competitions.

Generally all the students get placed. placements primarily happens in it industry. Placements arent so good for finance folks for marketing there are about 5-6 good companies that come for recruitment.

There are 5-6 events throughout the year in college 4 are academic related, one is a cultural event and one is sports. Since everybody stays in a hostel, people have a good time all around the year. Also there are various festivals celebrated in college.

Fee structure is expensive. in 2011 it was about 12 lakhs. However all the expenses such as cost of books, food, hostel is included in this cost. Now i think the fees is increased in 18 lakhs per annum which still holds good as value for money.

College has tie ups with various banks to avail loans. There are no scholarships available currently. I had taken a loan from credila and they have provided good service.

Gender ratio is 70 men to 30 women. Extracurricular activities are encouraged in college. Lot of competetions in sports and cultural activitivies are arranged by student bodies.

Hostel and rooms are of 5 star quality. There is sodexo staff to take care of the cleaning of the room and premises. Food is also outsourced to sodexo and there is an option for both veg and non veg.

Alumni is well connect in various cities. There are various alumni meets happening in different cities and one mega alumni meet takes place in chennai once a year. Alumni are approachable for any issues and are very helpful.

Exams are pretty hectic in the 1st and 2nd sememster. Since its a 1 year course, exams are squeezed in more often. however, they are not very difficult to pass.

Faculty is of international quality. All the indian professors for the best college across the world come for a break in india and teach at great lakes.
