MIT Manipal: An exposition

I chose the course because apart from education Manipal provides a student with a plethora of opportunities which work towards the all round development of the person. The faculty-to-student ratio in the college is Around 1:15. The term exams are conducted as scheduled and one needs to study hard to pass these exams.

Companies start coming for internships by the beginning of the third year. Top names like Samsung, Microsoft and Flipkart visit the campus for internships and provide good stipends for their trainee roles.

Students are hired from the campus itself by top companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Goldman Sachs and Deloitte. Students become eligible for placements from the seventh semester. A total of 339 companies visited last year for the placements. The highest package offered was 54.75 lpa while the average was 12.59 lpa. About 92 per cent of the students got placed.

The fees for the course are quite high. But I feel it's worth it given the opportunities we get both in terms of placements and other extracurricular activities. MIT also has a scholarship policy for local students from Udupi.

The tech fest is called tech Tatva. It is conducted in October every year. The cultural fest is called Revels and is conducted in the even semesters. The Central Library at MIT has many books and journals for all engineering branches available. The classrooms are all fully air-conditioned and well-constructed. The sports families are top-notch The campus has facilities for sports like tennis, badminton, swimming, football, basketball, cricket, athletics etc. Technical clubs and Student Projects like Manas, Robomanipal, Thrust MIT and Formula Manipal are doing well in both national and international competitions.

My room is a double sharing Non ac room with common bathroom. The room has beds,shelves and a study table. The meal quality is decent and the menu is really diverse. The hostel is a bit expensive but worth the expense.

The admission to MIT Manipal and other campuses of Manipal is done solely through MET which stands for the Manipal Entrance Test. It is conducted twice a year and your best score out of the two is considered for admission. To be eligible for the course you need to have a minimum of 50 percent marks in your board exams. Since this is a private college there is no reservation over here.
