Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course cause it was very different from the traditional engineering degree and we are learning the latest technology which is going to be in high demand in the future. Faculty is top class as it is an IIT, what you can expect from an IIT is excellence In each term, we have different kinds of exams for non-programming subjects we have QUIZ1, QUIZ2 then TERM EXAM, and you get Graded Assignments every week. For programming subjects, you also have to appear twice in a programming exam in each term.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like ABG, Tiger Analytics and etc come Roles like - Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Business Data Manager, Business Analyst, Software Developer, web developer, ML Engineering, AI Engineering etc are offered
Placement Experience
In degree level at the last terms, you're eligible to sit in the placement after qualifying a pre-placement test. Then you can get your CV shortlisted for the companies. Companies like Aditya Birla Group, Tech Mahindra etc etc come. Almost everyone who passes in PPT gets at least one offer for the placement. The package totally depends on your skill set. My plan is to appear in Gate and I will also apply in foreign for higher studies.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are very reasonable as it is a government institute, and you get a fee waiver if your family income is the guided slabs. You get a 50% fee waiver and a 75% waiver. You can also go for internships if you want to earn some extra money to support your education, IIT Madras allows you to do that, you can also get internship or Teaching Assistant Jobs on the campus as well for experience.
Campus Life
Pan IIT Madras Fest is Sarang which takes place in January of every year, It is an open fest and any student from any recognised institution or university can attend it. Then we have department fests which take place thrice, in May of every year we have Paradox which is the Annual Fest of Data Science students, then one fest called Sarang takes place in August and Margazhi takes place in Dec end of week
Admission
There are two ways to get into the course, 1. JEE-based entry, qualify for JEE ADVANCE and you can use your JEE score card for entrance. 2. By appearing for a Qualifier Exam which is specially designed for the course, qualify for that exam then you can proceed further.
