Remarks
College is as good as its students and its teachers. In my opinion, College management is horrible. And the situation is worsen as it is part of the state government.
Entrance Preview
I took UPSEE-2011 and I got 89(GEN) and 10(OBC). I scored 412/600 marks. As HBTI is one of the known engineering institutes in India and best state level engineering college in UP. There is no interview required for the admission at Undergraduate level. Only qualifying UPSEE with good score is required to get into this college.
Course Curriculum Overview
I did my B. Tech in Electronics Engineering and till third year we did not had choice for electives. First year had basic and fundamental courses from all the engineering branches like Engineering Mechanics, Basic Electrical Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Chemistry, Computer Concepts and Programming in C etc. Second year had some courses like Digital Electronics, Signals and Systems, Solid State Devices and circuits, Data Structures etc. Third year had courses Control Systems, VLSI Design, Analog Communication, Digital Communication etc. In final year we had very much all the courses as electives and we can opt for courses from as diverse fields as Biochemical Engineering, Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering etc.
Internships Opportunities
Situation of internships is not that good as it should be considering its reputation in India. But as it comes under state government things are not as good as expected at this front. General stipend is around 5000/- PM (if offered at all).
Placement Experience
Placement situation does not justify to its reputation. The companies that visit our campus are Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Reliance Jio, Idea, PayU, Mu-sigma, EXL, Evalueserve, and plenty of other Information technology companies. Average package is around 3-4 LPA for most of the companies. Yatra offered 8 LPA, Hero MotoCorp offered 7 LPA, EXL offered 5. 5 LPA
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure for Undergraduate level is around 49, 000 per year excluding hostel and mess charges. Over all it is feasible by any standard in india.
Fees and Financial Aid
I do not have any Idea about this but yes there were few my batch mates who had loans. So if you ask for loan facilities it is their but I do not have details. But as college has its reputation students can get the loan easily as compared to other state level engineering colleges at least.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is not good as is the case with the other engineering colleges in India. The male to female ratio is around 4:1. We have very rich cultural societies and tolerance level is as high as you can think in India with regards to gender, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status. I was the fee waiver students and I never felt any intolerance for that. We have plenty of workshops to learn some latest things in concerned departments and getting some exposure to latest developments in the field.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are good because of the company that one gets there. Rooms are sharing till second year after that rooms are single and rent per month is not more than 1000 INR. Average rent for the PGs are around 1500-1800 and some people preferred as
Alumni/Alumna
As HBTI is 95 years old institution, so naturally it has a very vast alumni network. And I feel it is underutilized at current. We have regular alumni meets annually. Some of the alumni are founder of some big organizations like Indiamarts, Kamdhenu Steels etc.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is pretty much chilled out as only two midterms and one final exam is the part of it. However when it comes to other things at exam times it does become hectic.
Faculty
If you talk about the regular faculties, most of them are as good as professors in IITs, NITs but when it comes to guest faculties, they were mostly disappointing barring few. HBTI has some exceptional professors in Plastic Technology, Oil Technology, Pai
