Likes
- Societies - There are over 18 societies which are really active and help make you a better and skilled professional.
- Faculty - the faculty is really helpful and they will guide which each and every aspect of help you sought.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure - the college also accomodates a school, the campus is small and the facilities aren't much in number.
- Attendence - A minimum of 75% of attendance is to be strictly followed through out your semester, to be able to give your exams , else get debarred.
- Timing - the timings are a bit odd, from 6 in the morning till 8 in the night, might scare you out in your initial days of college.
Course Curriculum Overview
They strictly follow the curriculum mentioned in NEP 2020. SXC Kolkata, comes under Calcutta University but it's autonomous so the syllabus is prepared here only. However the subject and faculty are upgraded and nice compared to other colleges. To make a comparison, the standard of the faculty and syllabus is no less than that of DUs.
Fees and Financial Aid
For B.com morning, the fee for 4 years of course is around 240000, and for the evening batch, it's around 4.8-5 L. For other courses as well the fee is at around the same level with slight variations. College placement for bcom - avg package is at around 6-8 lakhs, whereas the highest goes up to 24 lakhs, the median being 4-5 lakhs.
Campus Life
The infrastructure of the college definitely won't persuade you to spend 4 crucial years in this place, however, once you are acquainted, you won't wanna leave this place. The campus is small but, there's every facility you'll need at a college. There are multiple societies and clubs (over 18-20), and they are really active and provide a great experience, in fact, I'm a part of a few and it's really helpful to develop my skills.
Admission
So basically, if you want to get into SXC Kolkata for B.com or BSc economics, it's purely based on your 12th board results. For b.com best 4 subjects are considered out of which maths and English are mandatory to be considered and for BSc economics, the aggregate of marks of English and maths (out of 100) is to be considered. Admissions are on a cutoff basis, multiple lists are out across multiple days of admission. Generally for b.com morning (only boys) the cutoff starts from 94% and goes down to 89% in the extended lists for CBSE, for other boards, the variation is 1-2%. For B.com evening (co-ed) it starts from 95% and goes down to 91%. For BSc economics, the aggregate cutoff is 192 and goes down to 188.
