THE REALITY UNSEEN

I'm pursuing mechanical engineering from NIT SURAT and I chose this stream as I'm interested in aerospace engineering and pursuing this degree will give me an edge for my master's I want to pursue in. Some of the faculty is good and faculty distrub depends on the section you are in, being in C section I have the worst faculty and theri teaching methods aren't good at all. To pass the subjects it is really tough as there's a lot to remember and understand and not having a proper faculty doesn't provide an edge for it. Exams are held timely, one mid sem and one end sem per semester with other class test for internals. Faculties are well qualified having their PhDs in respective field and have their respective research areas as well as publishments as well.

Bajaj, John dheere, AitkinsRealis, GE Healthcare, ExxonMobil have been the companies providing internships to 3rd year students. The companies hardly select 1 or 2 students for internship. I have not been selected for any internship yet and have been finding one on my own.

Campus placements start from 7th semester and continue till the end of semester as we have internship for 8th sem. Last year 2022 almost 90 percent of students were placed and companies like Bajaj, John dheere, Reliance, Tata, TVS etc are among the recruiters. John dheere provides with highest package of 12lpa and lowest goes to 3lpa. Average package is 8.56lpa. My plans are not to continue in my respective degree as I will appear for CAT exam and will pursue for MBA.

Fees is bit more than the quality being provided. People create fake income certificates and avail remission which a disadvantage to other students as they have to pay the complete fees which is more than 132000. Various government scholarships are there which are provided by government but there are no scholarship provided from the school to support or motivate students. Campus placements are decent and the return on investment is not justified at all.

There are several fests cultural as well as technical and are organised at a huge level. The fests are amazing and there are several activities as well. Celebrity guests are welcomed and guest lectures are organised and several other activities are there to learn. Clubs comprise a huge part of college and almost every activity is organised by some club. Clubs like CEV, DRISHTI, NSS etc are among the clubs which organise fests and social activities and make projects for competitions. Sports competitions are held which include cricket, football, vollyball etc but there are no proper ground or equipment for other major sports like athletice, swimming, skating etc. We have a huge library which is a really good place to study and hang out but the books only comprise of engineering and there are no fiction or novels to read for book lovers.

Rooms are provided with a fan, a tubelight and a gallery which is just to hang out clothes. The rooms are decent and have really poor lan connection which always has an issue. Mess facility is not at all good as food is not upto the quality and at several occasions insects have been found in the food. Hygienity needs to be taken care of as well as the food quality too needs to be improved. Dal is just water and sabji is uncooked, roti is uncooked and taste is not at all upto the mark. Hostel and room selection is don't through online portal which has absolutely worst site which always has some server problems and hostel rooms are provided on first come first basis from online selection of room and payment. Except some hostel others have really bad facilities and rooms.

I applied through Josaa after giving JEE mains and advanced exams. NIT/IIT admission is only through Josaa and JEE exam is compulsory to get admission in them. The admission process was very tedious and required lots of documents. Details for such can be found of offical JEE website and also updates regarding it will be displayed on the site. Those having caste other from general need to submit valid proof of caste and can avail benefits of it. Every college has different cut off rank and mine had 35700 as the cutoff rank for the year 2021 for mechanical engineering.
