What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the curriculum here, nice schedules and course structure is well prepared and structure of exams are too good.
- We get good friends and communication skills if we engage ourselves in few events.
Dislikes
- Washrooms are worser. There are days when water clogged and unable to use them.
- Some facilities like beds, pillows are not provided in hostels for our batch students. Also food is uneatable somedays.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as I can't afford to pay money and study in private colleges. Also this is a straight 6 yr integrated B.Tech course. They also provide free laptop, uniform. The faculty student ratio is around 1:100. Most of the faculty have qualification of M.Tech and Engg faculty some studied in IIT and came here to teach. Teaching is simple uses whiteboard and marker. Also some use ppt to display virtually and get more insight. Overall it's fine teaching, but some are not effective at all. Few of them are very good in their subject of domain. The exams are divided into 3 parts semester exams for 60 marks, mid exams 3 conducted out of which best two taken for 30 marks, 10 marks for assignments(total 4 from best 3 are taken). The difficulty of the questions is easy sometimes but most of the time tough. Well balanced paper is given on an average.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are pretty good , we get chances to go and explore the industry. We have Hod's those having good connections with industry related people, so we get intern oppurtunities. They also give info about such things when ever they get to know about them. Our university theme is "learning by doing". So we usually are used to do more reasearch in projects, and make our own ones with new ideas... We also check internshala for them.
Placement Experience
The placements are good. The Placement cell along with branch Hod's work together to bring companies to the university. Generally 4th years are given oppurtunity for placements. Companies visited : HCL, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, NXT wave, Wipro, Cognizant. 90 Percentage of students are getting placements. My plan is to get job to stabilize my family economy and with future scope to study higher education.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure is simple when I joined it's 50k for tution and around 30k for hostel including mess. But they now increased the tution fee by 5k. It's affordable to study, as govt gives scholarship which covers the total tution fees and part of hostel fees. The scheme is Jagananna Vidya deevena and vasathi deevena. This scheme's eligibility criteria is Below poverty line and no four wheeler, electricity bill not more than 500 per month, parent should not be a govt employee etc...
Campus Life
Life was quiet good here. But need to habitate to the environment, new friends etc.. We have different organisational clubs which conduct various events throughout the year on occasions. We have teckzite the tech fest which is conducted usually around March , April. Our library has range of books covering each branch of engg, gate preparation books, story tales books, novels too, also newspapers available daily. Sports: intra and inter University championship is conducted yearly to promote physical fitness in students. We have ground for cricket, volley ball, badminton, basket ball. Running is done by students and faculty too early mornings. All the clubs here are runned by students under guidance of faculty. They are E-crush, SDCAC, Student Mitra, Helping Hands, Student Recreation Club.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel is somewhat the drawback here. Rooms are old and are not maintained properly. Some electronics are damaged, toilets are also need to be repaired. Meal quality is average, some days when no one is asking or unnoticed, they reduce the quality, but when we question properly and demand them logically we get good food. At starting they assign rooms and then we can exchange our rooms so that we and our friends stay in one room.No dayscholar service , so everyone needs to be in their hostel. No rented rooms or PG outside. All inside the campus only.
Admission
I took RGUKT CET exam conducted by the university to get admission. All the students who completed 10th standard are eligible for this exam. Students who get more marks in entrance exam, along with reservation process(also govt students are benefitted by added 5 marks to promote students from govt school into higher education). The application form is made online when they release the notification of admissions into University. Application fees is around Rs.500 and the date of application is usually in the August month of year. But now they are intaking students through marks secured in board exams only. We need apply and submit respective certificates and wait for selected students list i.e., no entrance exam.
