Course Curriculum Overview
Since I was unable to clear the cutoffs for CSE and IT, ECE-AI seemed to be a subtle choice. Our course doesn't have the common subjects like Chemistry and Engineering and right from the first semester, we're taught the branch-specific subjects, which includes a lot of common subjects with CSE-AI. The student facility ratio is around 75:1 and the teaching is similar to the ones in other government universities in Delhi. In the end you have to study by yourself but the peer group and the seniors are really helpful. Resources are easy to find for the end sems and one can score well if she's consistent and stays up to date with what's happening in the classes or somehow happens to get proper notes before the exams.
Internships Opportunities
Almost all MNCs visit our college for internships and the tech internships are pretty great. I can't comment on the Core ones besides NXP Semiconductors and the roles are mostly SWE/SDE ones. One can do Research Internships with reputed universities in India and abroad as well.
Placement Experience
From the third/fourth semester onwards, the students become eligible for the internships and some of them receive return offers for internships in the coming year as well as PPOs. The placements are pretty great in this college and the highest domestic package last year was 82 LPA which was offered by Atlassian and the highest international package was 1.2 CPA which was offered by Amazon Dublin to 3 students. The average is 20 LPA for the CSE, IT and ECE departments respectively (current data). Since I'm a freshman, I'm not sure if I'll pursue Masters or I'll work right after my degree, but I'm sure that our university will give me good support in either of them and I'm able to do well in my career.
Fees and Financial Aid
In my experience, I think it's the cheapest university to study engineering in New Delhi and has a great ROI if one is up to date with skills and technology. I'm eligible for quite a few government sponsored scholarships and I've applied in them. Toppers too receive scholarships (more like a reimbursement) covering the fees and there's a lot of scholarships for the reservation/underpriviledged students which our university keeps updating us from time to time.
Campus Life
The Annual Cultural Fest is Taarangana which is conducted in around Feb/March and there's another Annual Tech fest, Innerve which is going to be conducted in January (usually October) the coming year. Course related books are available in the library and we get access to the college WiFi as well, to download the PDFs. The amenities in the classroom are pretty basic, but with time, you will get used to it. The IT block is better than the rest in terms of infrastructure. There's plenty of room for sports and the students represent our university in various national-level competitions. There are a lot of societies (more than 30) and the coding culture in them is pretty great. The seniors in these societies are quite motivating and help the beginners to know about various opportunities and they even guide us through the process.
Admission
I appeared in JEE Mains 2023 to gain admission into this college. The eligibility criteria was pretty similar to the other government colleges in Delhi through the JAC Counselling. Once you qualify for JEE, you can apply for JAC counselling (which costs around 1500) which will release its own merit list for the colleges under it- NSUT, DTU, IIIT, IGDTUW and DESU respectively. Do fill your choices judiciously since after a couple of rounds, you won't be able to modify it. I filled my choices according to the previous year cutoffs and distance from my location since I'm a Delhi Resident (again, the previous year cutoffs are available on the JAC Counselling website) and the process till the admission was quite smooth. They call you for a verification round once you are in the provisional list in one of the rounds and make sure that you carry all the documents up to date with you. That's quite mandatory.
Other Applied Colleges
Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Distance from home
Delhi University - [DU] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] (Economics)
Engineering seemed to be a better idea placements-wise though I had a decent percentile for the North Campus colleges like SRCC and Hansraj
