A Brief review of SVNIT SURAT by a first year student

i am interested in physics and mechanics. so i opted for mechanical engineering and i got seat in SVNIT SURAT which well know for mechanical engineering it is pretty good.teachers are available for sort out querries of students and every 10 students are have a phd mentor. phd scholars . i liked the way how particular topics such thermodynamics and regardings lab are taught well and regular class tests are conducted. we have mid semister after first two months for a semister and end semister after four months of a semister.Paper is also madeta mak moderatly where students got to pay attrention and make efforts to pass. its not too difficult. people here score pretty well in examinations.

BPCL, HPCL, BAJAJ, TATA, relience, ashok leyland,godrej, tbea, NBC bearings, pidilite, sun pharma etc companies visits reguraly for placements. being a first year i have no idea of interships. still oppurtunies are are there for students who are interested in it.

highest pakages offered was 4400000 per annum and and average was 1600000 per annum. Since i am still a first year i have no idea about placements etc... after getting a degree i will either prepare to give civil services or other engineering exams as GATES etc and prefer to do job in core.

this college has tution fee around 62,500 per semister. students of sc and st categories have fee wavier for only tution fee. and other extra fees are included such as hostel, mess fee, student activity etc. students can also apply for fee remission in college and also apply for educational loans. fee is also determined using parameters of anual income of the family, category etc.

in our college there many clubs for different students interest.DEspite of only academics college always encourage students talents and also plan events etc. we had freshers day named kashish and will have another event named SPARSH so soon. books are not always available. recomended books are few in number which every one may not get one. classrooms are also ventilated and also bit old too [becoz our mechanical dept is the oldest]. some classes do have ac facilities and powerpoint presentations screens. many sport events and inter nit sport events are conducted and other extra curricular according to once interests are conducted

our hostels are pretty good. we have wifi facilities hot water is also provided for bathing. rooms are cleaned weekly once or twice. coming to room we have study table provided a cot and and cupboards. laundry service is also available. being a south indian we have to adjust with the food. and drinking water has been problem for some extint. hostel fee is 37300 per year including mess fee.
