Remarks
The college experience is good. One gets many opportunities and it helps cater to the inherent interest in this stream if you have one. For someone who wants to pursue the stream passionately, this is a great college. The academics are good and practical concepts are also given sufficient importance. Also, since the college is affordable, I think it is a win-win situation.
Entrance Preview
There is a separate test for admission to our college. The college conducted CET for both the colleges under our University. The entrance test was followed by an interview round and then a counselling process. I found myself capable and suitable for the course and that is why I chose the current course. I was interested in the course and was getting a seat so that lead me to take admission here.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very good. I'm happy with the course that I chose because I find it fruitful for my future life, both as a daily need as well as for my career. The course focuses on all round development. The course also puts sufficient focus on practical learning. To achieve the emphasises on practical learning, the college takes the help of the Student's body by organising seminars, research papers, mooting and debates from time to time. Law courses are all based on research only, theory is only about remembering the judicial sections. In debates and mooting, we get to know about a previously solved case and accordingly a new case is given on which we get to do research and solve it. LLM, BA LLB, LLB, MA LLB and various options are available to choose in this college.
Internships Opportunities
The college does not provide internships as such. But it encourages students to go for the internships. Internships are a great way to get to know the real life scenario of a profession and help one get more opportunities in the future. We have to look for internships themselves and mostly internships offered in my field are non-paid.
Placement Experience
The placement scenario isn't very good. Indeed, the college placements have begun only from last year. Since our college recently got placement opportunities, so I don't have much idea regarding that. Although many dignitary judges and lawyers have passed out from this college, so many students got opportunity to work with them.
College Events
Our college fest is pretty famous across the country and sees participation from colleges form various different regions across India. Armonia - National Law Fest is organised by the college in which 16-18 colleges from all over India participate every year. Average footfall is above 6000. The organisation is very well from hospitality to fooding at a reasonable participation fees which we take pride in. The college authorities too contribute for the same. Various Moot Court events, Chess tournaments, Parliamentary Debates, MUN and various seminars keep going all-round the year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Our college is a government college and hence is quite affordable. The fees per year is 35,000 Rupees. It is worth the fees because the facilities provided to us are very good. I don't feel anything is lacking in the course curriculum and hence the fees becomes all the more affordable. It is more affordable than other colleges providing similar courses. I am content with the education provided for the price asked.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college does not provide any loans. Although scholarships and other monetary benefits are given to the toppers as a token of appreciation.
Campus Life
Yes, we got ample opportunities in extra curricular. There are many clubs and units like athletic society, the social service guild, NSS unit, Cultural club. They organises various events and keep the year happening. I am the part of the social service guild and athletic society. Its compulsory for everyone to be the part of the social service guild. In this we educate people on the matters of socio-economic and legal importance. Along with that we do various other social activities which have led us to explore within ourself. Students from our college have won various events in other colleges like chess tournaments, National level Extempore Competition, Essay Writing Competition
Hostel Facilities
Yes, there are hostel rooms available but are only for male students. There are about 50 rooms with double occupancy giving accommodation to 100 students. As far as I got to know from my male friend, the hostels are not too good but it works. The hostel food is very bad. The per annum fees for hostels is about 2,000/- p.a. and mess fees 300/- p.a. PGs are a better option. PGs are not there within campus. They are located 1-2km away in Jobra.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes we get many opportunities to interact with the alumni. The college has done a good job with providing students enough opportunities to get as many lessons from the people already practising the profession we will be practising in some time. Since this stream is more about your practical experience, advice and guidelines from seniors proves to be very helpful. Overall, the college did with the interaction platform very well.
Exam Structure
The exams aren't very frequent. More focus is on imparting knowledge and less on back to back tests. I am actually quite thankful for that because i think the pressure of tests would have hindered with our learning. The overall culture of the college was chill.
Faculty
Most of the faculty is good. Some are exceptionally great while others not so much. Mostly all LLM, LLB, MA or Phd qualified. The teaching methods also depend upon teacher to teacher. Some are really interactive during the lectures and some are simply not. I think getting all amazing teachers is a rare stroke of luck and doesn't happen all that often. Having said that, one doesn't feel they aren't learning enough and the knowledge provided is good.
