Likes

Faculty members are really supportive and cooperative
There's no ragging culture, and everyone here is really friendly
Our campus always looks very lively and it feels good to always get surrounded with flowers and trees

Dislikes

The canteen food is not that good and they are times when they get all out if food
They don't let us stay in campus in between our classes when we get the break period

Course Curriculum Overview

I've choose Mass communication and Journalism, I got mu interest in public speaking during lock down that's why I thought of going for this subject. We have got a number of sir and mams ,then we also get weekly and monthly guest teachers who advices and mentors us. Our faculty members are really supportive and cooperative. This is the best thing about my college that all of my faculty members are really helpful. We get Continuous assessments on a weekly basis and we get a mid semester in the middle of the 6 months time period of one semester and then we get our final semester. For that we've to go through the viva ,practicals and the theory written exam. It's not that hard if one gives their whole attention and maintain a balanced study plan the whole semester.

Class Size: 52Course Fees: INR 300000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

Yeah we get scholarships and all but I've not opted for any scholarship so I had to pay my the full amount. Which is approx 3L and I had to pay to pay around 75k during the time of admission. And every 6 months we've to pay around 35k to 40k advance for the upcoming semester.

Campus Life

It's good, we got a lot of clubs, taking from dancing, singing, painting, theatre, to having college bands . Then we've got a photography club , there are events every 2,3 months in our college. Our college also takes us to different places to perform

Admission

No I'm in a private college which didn't need any entrance exam just my 12 isc boards mark was enough to get the admission. I was just asked some questions about the course I was opting for then I had to pay the fees and I got admitted in my now College

Course Curriculum Overview:

I feel the theory part of our curriculum isn't much relevant or prepares for real - world applications, only some basic information is what I feel is necessary, although the lab and the practical part prepares us for real - world applications and teaches us a lot of things related to photography, news paper page building, survey report, etc. I believe they should have a better approach and teach more relevant real - world or in demand market skills which'll help the students in the future. Exams are conducted 2 times in a year, once between March - april, and second time between August - September.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There course includes practical knowledge very much which is helpful in future filmmaking, newspaper making ,radio voiceover are taught in the course which is quite interesting. Assignments sometimes are field work which is quite important. The teaching of theory papers can be improved .

Course Curriculum Overview:

From my childhood, I'm into music and this course allows me to further widen my knowledge of the entertainment industry, films, Television and etc. So this course will allow me to understand how media and journalism world works, and help me pursue the art that I love. The timings could be better of the college, but rather than that everything is mostly good. The frequency in my opinion, should be reduced to 3 main semester exams, and to have small mid semester exams throughout. That's my perspective.

1. I opted for this course because I thought it would have a good practical work, with good exposure and experience. But this course has nothing as such. The documentary we did was done all by ourselves. College did not help at all. There was a photo journalsm option in one paper but our college did not let us study that. They did not teach anything about photography, no practical training was given. 2. None. The curriculum doesn't prepare us for the real world at all. There is no professional study or activities. No preparation for interviews or real world jobs. Only theoretical and advices from our faculty. College doesn't provide any activity that can help us for the real world job. 3. More and more practical work with the help of college. More exposure needed. High quality software and equipments are needed. Students need a GOOD professional lab. More exciting activities for students. Placement opportunities, internships etc. 4. BAD. Per sem arrives in 2.5 months, too short time

Journalism is one of my favorite sudject . One of the reasons for choosing this subject is that only a journalist can highlight the good and bad aspects of our society before the people. The scope of the subject is journalism but it is huge. We can learn not only journalism but also photography, radio, film studies etc. The behaviors of all the professors in the journalism department in this college is very well. They very carefully explain all the topics thoroughly to the students so that the students do not have to face any difficulty with those topics later. Every year two semesters are taken every six months if the students do all the classes carefully and study well then they can easily pass by getting good marks

Insights of SNU

There are a few private colleges present in Kolkata which provides biotechnology but in my opinion the labs of those colleges are not as well furnished as ours. There curriculum is little different than ours. I didn't apply to any other colleges apart from Snu for biotechnology I sat for an online exam .And I cleared the test. Once you get a call you visit the college campus meet the faculty and the faculty may take a type of interview session The addmission process is smooth. But sometimes the staff members of admission makes blunder. My classes were about to start from 17 August, but they called me during July( because she didn't know that biotechnology does not fall under para- medical and made a mistake and for her mistake I had to suffer as I'm not a resident of Kolkata)...Read More
