Remarks

My overall experience is that this college is apt for people who are willing to succeed. This is a real opportunity. These opportunities are to be attained through interest and hard work. The prevailing canteen problem has been devastating. They closed the cheaper canteens through which students can avail snacks at low rates and brought expensive canteens.

Entrance Preview

I am currently pursuing B.Sc Visual Communication. We had a three stage interview process to get the seat. We had to go through a panel of internal, external and administrative department. Before attending the interview, I had read about it. Trust me it is not as easy as they make it sound. The competition has increased an they have raised the stakes. Drawing and creative art is highly preferred. Then comes digital work like photography, editing and video making. From my personal experience I was expected to already know a lot even before I joined. The basic form of video editing was not encouraged sufficient to make it. The questionnaire in the administrative department was worse. It seemed as my interviewer had no time for my answer as he rushed to the next question even before I completed. It was overall an "OK" experience. The external was the only one who listened to what I had to say about my work and interest. It is because of my interest in photography and videography and mainly the reputation of this college that I wanted to study B.Sc Visual Communication in Loyola.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I am still in the first year of my education. Thus my review is from the perspective of a student who is just a starter and is setting to the environment of the college. The course didn't satisfy my expectations. I hoped to undergo more practical training but was sad to see nothing such so far. I always hoped I could improve on my drawing and artistic skills but was devastated to find only instructions being given during the Visual Literacy class. Practical learning indeed did not come upto my expectations. However the exposure I gained was a lot. We have students of varied interests and many similar to mine. Thus I was able to learn more from my peers. That is a very positive aspect that I would like to point out. The Elective options seemed very good. We get to learn new languages and acquire many other skills. I learn French and we also learn how to write for media.

Internships Opportunities

The college did provide internships. They have us contact address of the internship team. The Dean if students is very concerned about it. He is approachable for any kind of clarification. The college aims at providing good internships for the students. They encourage and advice us on these matters.

Placement Experience

4

I am still in my first year. Hence I am not aware about this. However I have learned that the rate of placements is high. The students that have passed out have attained great heights. The alumni include famous actors and media people. They include Vijay,Vikram, Jayam Ravi and Mahesh Babu.

College Events

4.5

We just finished our culturals. The college had invited film stars as chief guests.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is split according to the income of the respective family. It is very affordable. The Government aided course comes with even more benefits to support the needy students.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provided scholarships to the economically backward students.

Campus Life

4

The college excels at sports. The college also has a proud and famous dance team called 'Dream Team'.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I don't stay in hostel so I don't know much about it. From what I heard , the hostels aren't very strict thought have few restrictions. I am not aware about the food. I assume the hostel accommodates 3-4 students in each room. Very few from my class reside in hostel. The engineering hostel that is adjoint has more facilities. However I've heard that it is not worth it.

Alumni/Alumna

The college hosts alumni day once a year when they invite alumni. Most of them are accomplished and celebrities.

Exam Structure

The Exams were properly arranged. The students are treated leniently when it comes to examinations. It helps to rid off the pressure that accompanies students during exam time. We do a have a tension-free system.

Faculty

3.5

The standard of teaching varies from subject to subject. All the teachers are however well qualified. However the interaction aspect still remains to be a question. Some teachers interact properly with the students and create interest in the subject. Whereas few teachers don't interact properly with students and show less concern.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is well structured and relevant to current academic and real world needs,it hepls built astrong foundation knowledge especially in my field geography, the syllabus also supports preparation for competitive exams and higher education. Exams are conducted regularly and difficulties level is moderate, which helps in consistent preparation, however adding more practical assessments instead of only theoretical exams would be beneficial Overall the curriculum is good but it can be improved by including updated topics more hands on learning, and modern teaching methods

The courses are well structured and interesting espcially the social psychology and basic psychology papers. in a semester there are 2 internal exams and they will be at least a month apart from each other. as long as you study your course materials, the exams are pretty easy however otherwise it might be a tough one. the courses are well structured espcially the social and basic psychology. and in some semesters, there will be a reading period where students are encourged to go and read in the Library.. The Curriculum served as a base for Internships and basic understanding but it is required to do masters to get a job in psychology filed
